yeh, i saw some stupid bulletin on myspace about it......written no doubt by some 15 emo kid who probably still rides his pushie to school........:P
Starbug ·
boywonder... theres nothing wrong with riding your pushie to school, or work or the shops...
take it from me, in a few years time you will be doing just that, so better get fit now :P
its basically a load of crap... everyone in australia would have to not buy fuel for at least a week (more like a month) to get noticed.
nice idea though. would be nicer if petrol stayed expensive but the government used that profit to fix up our roads, public transport and the like, so driving could be a pleasant weekend pursuit.

The refineries only take 1c per litre, the gas stations only take 1-2c per litre... what is the point of this boycott, to try and "force" the refineries to do business for less than 1c?????
The boycott is a stupid idea and a complete waste of effort. Don't bother.

Nice apathy guys!!
Its not meant to break the bank, its meant to fu## with margins for a day thats all!! Whether it will actually do diddly squat is another question, but it will take more effort not to support it than it will too - i.e. just buy your fuel on another day - it is no effort!
Whats the big deal - its not often society does anything together, we usially just bitch and moan and keep doing the same thing with no change! This is just a very simple - no action protest!
Doug Sweetman ·
no action protest that will cause no effect and no notice = no point.

I would of thought positive affirmative action would have been heralded here. But sadly no.
The idea it that the passive protest will hurt the organisation most which has the abilty to change the system.
Who stands to make the most from the price of fuel. Its not the oil companies, whilst they do profiteer somewhat, its not the suppliers, it costs to run the sh1t all over the country. The biggest profit margin goes straight to the government. Lets cut the feelgood bullsh1t. The government taxes the consumer twice on fuel, once with the fuel excise, and hits again with GST on sale price.
Ergo, the govenment stands to be the big loser if no fuel is bought for the day. Lets not kid ourselves it is sustainable, and that is the point. Its basic economics, demand and supply directly relate to prices, the drama is the cost of fuel does not reflect the demand or the supply of the product. The govenment effecively control both.
buy fuel or don't buy fuel, who cares, but don't bitch and moan when the MAN bends you over and gives you $1.50 worth for each litre of fuel.

Wont make a scrap of difference, we all need to buy fuel the next day anyhow.
So its really just a wank and will achieve nothing.
If you really want to hit the bastards who deserve it the most, hit the government
who are taxing the shit out of it. They show us contempt and refuse to drop the
huge amount of tax we pay on fuel which is then wasted on crap like lifetime super for ex pollies, and royal visits, and bullshit grants and useless departments.
It's ok to pay all this tax but where is it going?
Every new road is a privately owned and run business and costs us a big toll if we want to use it. Our bloody taxes payed for these roads and yet we have to pay thru the nose AGAIN if we want to use them.
In the words of the mighty Doc Neeson of The Angels : " It might be time to STAND UP."
