humpty ·

Just to let you WA Dubbers out there know...

We have organised to have 6 possibly 7 VW's at next months 'HOT ROD & STREET MACHINE SPECTACULAR' at the Burswood Dome.

On display will be Antony's 2 splitty's, the satin black micro and his ratty ex-army bus, Kieran's 23 Window as featured in VWMA, Choppa's 15 Window Rat, Bernie's silver stroker Oval, my RATRAG and possibly another MAATTTT BLACK Oval....All very Hot-Rod and all representative of the local VW scene!

So come to the show on October 22-23, 2005 at the Burswood Dome.

Doug Sweetman ·

Good turnout..... havent heard of the silver oval before - is he new to Perth, or does he just not turn up to the shows ?

humpty ·

Bernie has been around for a while, though this is his first hotvw build....He's done a great job, from what I've seen...I haven't seen the finished result yet, but I know some ppl who have and all suggest it is a fine car...

Doug Sweetman ·

good to hear, the more the merrier I reckon.

toecutter ·

Will the VW's be there for both days?

Got tickets for the Taste Of Chaos Tour on Saturday night so burnout noises will be dulled:P

THE SHOW IS THIS WEEKEND

Humpty............

Are all the cars that you listed above, still confirmed for the show?
I also noticed on the advertising that there will be a vintage retro caravan section. Sounds interesting!

NigeType3 ·

Cool ill be there

humpty ·

Its on right now boys and girls...And yes all the cars are there...We got a great spot and have had loads of fantastic feedback from the establishment...

The Dubs have arrived!

It was a big few days for us all to get the cars ready and i can tell you it was a long one yesterday for me, but it looks great...You all must go and check it out...
I haven't been down today, But Ill be there tomorrow morning and tomorrow night...Drop by and say hi...

MISS VDUB ·

I wont get a chance to go thanks to a whole lotta uni work. Can you post some photo's for me? 😀

humpty ·

I know how it is Ashleigh...I have a truckload of work to hand in next week, loads more marking to do and I start tutoring another class next week...but still I have to make time, otherwise id go nuts!

As soon as i have some pics I'll get them up....All ask any of the boys if they have a digi handy...Gonna have to get me one of those, one of these days!

MISS VDUB ·

Cheers Simon, that would be awesome! You can send it to ashleigh.smith@eftel.net.au if it makes it any easier? 😀

THe VW section was AWESOME!! A big pat on the back for all those concerned.
All the show cars and rods were roped of but the VW section was user friendly as you could go right up to the cars and stick your head in and have a good look. And there was a the most rattest rag top beetle there as it was bio-degrading on the spot. Shit Hot! Will post picks ASAP!

humpty ·

Cheers for that Toecutter...
Glad you liked the display...and im glad you liked my Rag!

Is it the rattiest rag in Oz?

We shall C!

If i can get some pics of it, Ill post them on here!

Here are a few pictures from the show in low res. I have the Samba pics ready and I'll fix up the others as the day goes on.
Loved your Rat HumptY:thumb

The colour of the Samba is really a Salmon colour but due to the flash and being inside it's a bit red.

That should be enough for today before the aussieveedubbers server starts smokin. Will post some more pictures tomorrow in the rat section concerning pinstriping etc etc

Again, a bit pat on the back for all concerned for organising the VW section of the show:thumb:beer

humpty ·

This is fantasic!
Cheers for this Toecutter....Totally brilliant shots!

The Dubs look great on the massive banners huh?
A big cheers must go to Kieran for those...Gives the display a very distinctive look!
Thanks also to Antony for organising the display....A huge success!

Thats awesome guys, keep the pics coming, anymore of that 15 window?
VMA should do a right up on this show and all those rides together...sweet

Samba ·

cheers toecutter for the fine pics..it was fun driving out with all the serious lumpy cam hot rods and dragcars last night...was great being part of and we did,nt loose any face for the VW scene..people really liked to be able to walk around and poke their heads into our rides..was no other display like that..all where roped off..will post a pick of my fav for the show later..a rat look Ford pick-up with Hemi..had something all the shiny cars seemed to have lost...even my bus...though mine had to be fixed and painted...hope for some more rats there next year..maybe my 60 Dual cab..??.. ciao k

vsleepy ·

Was a great display, well done! The fact that you could poke around the cars was great, as was said earlier, all the other displays were behind bunting.

Best display of the show!

cheers,
James

Taking pictures of nice cars is easy. Glad you all liked them!

I gather the next VW event for WA is the end of the VW club of WA, 50th Anniversary party which will be in December some where? Hopefully there will be a few more classic's hitting the streets.

Samba wrote:a rat look Ford pick-up with Hemi..had something all the shiny cars seemed to have lost
I think the rat Ford pick-up looked so good was because of the those huge chrome heads sticking out from the motor. It made a v8 supercar motor look small.
Here's to next year:thumb

humpty ·

I think the next big Dub event is the SHANNON's Day of the VW at Burswood..Dec 11th.
Though i am thinkin I might get another small run in when uni is finally done for the year...
Possibly up to "Hamburger Hill", for some 'sunset-ova-city' action....

Will keep you posted....

Hey ByronBus...Its a good call on covering this display in VWMA...But I dont think Craig would want to put a HotRod show spread in the mag, even though a bunch of showed up to display...but you never know...Brian White was there and he's a Dub dude also!

😉

Samba ·

the engine was the classic Hemi (59 i think on the 29 truck..will try to attach a foto..not sure if will work

Samba ·

Try smaller this time, know its not VW but this is so cool and its kinda where some of us are heading

humpty ·

I so love this truck...I got to chattin to the owner about it....He said when he took it over the pits to get it rego'd, the inspectors loved it...Its all new underneath of course.... He says the steel is of such a high quality, that it hasn't aged a bit....The rust just doesn't get any worse!...And yes he does drive it, but he does not let water sit on it for too long....no long cold nights in the driveway for this truck..

boersch ·

:o got any more of the silver oval?

humpty ·

I think K (owner of the 23) has some, but he's a busy boy and he may not have time to upload.... And I think Antony (owner of the 2 hotrod bus': RatBus and Splitty) has some also...Ill see if I can get sme more shots up...

humpty ·

Some more pics from the show....

Thanks to Brian at BWMedia for the pics....

he's the dude who took those brilliant shots of Keiran's 23 in VWMA!

And he's a splitty owner also....

Go there and nav your way to the 'Hot Rod and Streetcar Spectacular' Gallery...

proctor ·

hey toecutter
do you know whos rat bus it is in perth that is black on top and army green on the bottom? am keen to find out waht colour the green is?
Cheers
Simon

humpty ·

Hey Proctor....

The bus in question is Antony's work bus...And the green is the OG Army green the bus has had since the sixties...

Find out what the army use and your there...Antony had to match it for some minor repairs, but as far as I know, not code was available....

I guess a good place to start would be the olive drab colour range and then add some matting agent...
