Hello,

Got a tip to post my question over here, instead of at the pics department :o ...So, let my try..

Soon I will be spraying my floorpan, axle etc..But, since I can now choose exactly what I want...I can not make the right descision :duh . Could you give me some inspiration please by showing your floorpan paintjob ?? 😵‍💫 Thanks a lot...

Hmmm
now the question is, what are you hoping to achieve? a hard finish that will be resistant to stone chips? salt or de-iceing chem? or just something that looks sweet?
I went for a nice hard finish as we don't have to deice our roads 🙂 and I live in a dryish part of the country now.
I have used POR15 so far and (am a lot further along in the rebuild than these pics suggest) am very happy with it so far. I have dropped the pan on its edge on concrete and chipped the concrete and have dropped numerous objects on it while rebuilding.

My beam is now painted in POR15 Hard Nose paint and so far I have no complaints.
There is a new paint that has been advertised here called Rust Bullet. Not sure if anyone here has used it, but apparently its pretty good from US folks advice.
I am sure that both of those paints are available somewhere over your way.
See if you can get 68AutoBug , (real name is Lee Noonan) to jump in. His car looks wild with colour. You can see a bit of it from his avatar (the pic off to the left) on this link about soundproofing.

I am sure he has detailed just about all of his car.
Thats my suggestions for you 🙂 have fun and good luck.

Hi, there are many ways ok tackling a pan, most people POR15 them or paint them black, I am going a slightly different route. I have filled all the spot welds and filed them smooth as in pics and it is getting hi-filled in a few weeks and the 2Pac'd when the choosen colour comes. If you are going to look at it, paint it, if not tar or POR15!

Wow, that's nice guys! Thanks a lot.

Haha, no I am not looking at it every time. But...I wanna be able to show of :P

The body-work will be a really dark bleu. And I thought of spraying the pans mouse-grey. That combination must look good...

No probs,
hope you post a few pics of it here (well in the paint section, but you know what I mean) as well.
Have to say theres a cool VW scene over your way. I went to the VW show in Budel last year and was amazed.
Is that the biggest show in for Holland? or normal size for you guys?

Budel...that is one of the biggest. Never been there :cry It's pretty far (300km) from my place. Unbelievable nice show however, and am going to be there once (and then twice, and then..).

The aircooled scene is pretty huge! www.keversite.com counts abour 3000 members, and I really believe that it's not even half of all bug-driving people! Greaaatttt....so there's more to come!

Dutch family! Great, the ideal way to get to Autralië and have a good start for your cousins!! Awesome!
Strange though...I have never heard of a dutch giuy married to a Australian woman :P

Pics sofar: http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/gebruikers_fotoalbum.php?id=2457 Have a look and shiver...😏

BTW: thanks for the pics, and is 2 pac the 2 component paint (normal for cars??). We call it 2K??nn[ Edited on 21-9-2005 by Danfoksan ]

Nice pan, are you stripping the paint off by hand?
I used sand blasting which gave me a nice even finish all over. (but also gave me sand in every nook or hole of the pan) and it looks like you have a nice big shed to work in as well.
Good to hear that its one of the biggest, I thought it was huge and had a great time. Next time (if I get there again) I'm camping on site for the weekend and going to the parties 🙂

Danfoksan ·

Hey,

Yess, doing it by hand. I had to do it this wat thanks to a thick underlayer (coating with tar??) and that could not be sandblasted. Hell of a Job :puke

But, now I am almost to the bare metal en just need to grind it :thumb And then spray the pan! and start building again!

....huge shed, only filled with food for cows 😬nn[ Edited on 22-9-2005 by Danfoksan ]
