After nearly a year, I finally got my billy-cart finished today. It was built out of three or four different bikes. Haven't got a chance to test it properly yet, except on my short drive-way. The brakes don't work real well yet, but who needs brakes. :P
The idea is that if all goes well, a two stroke mower engine will go on the back wheel, mmmm, air-cooled, rear-engined hooliganizing!!!
The steering is set up with proper rose joints, seems to work ok too.

over-steer city, here we come ey?! But then, we drive VW's, we know how to handle that...
haha That looks like a barrel of fun mate - the forks would add some 'suspension' qualities through the flexing too!馃憤nn[ Edited on 25-9-05 by oval TOFU ]

Check this out we had a billy cart weekend last summer... its now gunna be an annual thing.
Finally got to test the cart today. Brian and Joel came round. We found the biggest and least busy hill and took turns going down. The best thing was have the car to carry the cart back up the hill. The first pic is the hill from halfway down. Shows just how steep it was.

thats awesome 馃憤馃憤

top speed was 50km/h as measured in our support vehicle following me. We were all quite surprised just how stable it was. The last pic is of Joel being a hooligan.. and we wonder why he keeps braking things on his monsta truck. KEEP YA HAND ON THE FREAKIN WHEEL!!!!:o
The whole cart has cost me about $130 to build as most of the parts were odd bits of steel or left overs. Pretty good value I reckon. Brian reckons it definitely needs a motor now. 馃槈

Nah, it's quite stable. the only thing I'll probably do is move the front axle under the frame and put another two support struts on the gooseneck with the handle bars attached. Appart from that, it's all good. :thumb

Looked like you had a ball - memory of yo9nger days but then mine had no offset and ball bearing wheels which were great for drifting round corners or in a straight line just for the slide factor
pete wood 路
Well, this cart has been fun.
What will I build next? I have a type three 1600, 2swingaxle boxes and a whole load of big five stud wheels, might be time for a khanacross special or maybe a boxer powered rail. The question is who's gonna donate me a k/l front end and a steering column? 馃榿
You can garantee it'll be low budget again. Hopefully the steering will be a bit more techo. 馃檮

that something i been thinking of doing for a while now. cut the s**t out of a shopping trolley, weld on a small rollcage, lock the back wheels straight, put steering on the fronts....

i can get hold of 50-110-120-125cc 4 stroke motors complete . from a bike shop if any body has the desire to get one for a project
i think they are reasonably priced.
i haven't asked for any prices as yet
mr_hip 路
looking forward to seeing the cart with the motor in it

here is a pic finally. there'll be a proper write up on my site of course, but suffice to say it's tops fun. You can either push start it or use the pull start that is still on the motor. Unfortunately the throttle stuck a bit today and the back tyre is so old and hard that the motor wore a hole straight through to the tube so I'll have to change that before riding it again. The white specs everywhere are little bits of rubber off the back tyre. :duh
Aside of that it goes really well. The motor isn't working very hard at all and there's heaps more we can do to tune it yet. At 160cc it has heaps more in it yet. Apparently it's doing about 3500rpm in current trim but can comfortably do 9000rpm!. :thumb
Needless to say we'll be finding a way to gear it up, along with putting some proper brakes on it too. :P
