Hi guys got my certificate in the mail today but not sure if i got treated fairly as some info is missing this is what it says:

Vehicle Identity Number: 195 880 325 (correct)

Model*: 194, VW Standard Deluxe (correct)

Engine Number: 9669 655, 34bhp, 1.2 liter (correct)

Colour: is not mentioned (incorrect should say Sea Blue)

Built on: 16 June 1965 (i would say correct cos the car was first rego'd in 66)

Left factory on: Is not mentioned (incorrect they should have this info?)

Country of destination - Australia (correct)

Extras/Options - M 401 and 462 cannot be identified
(incorrect as i cant find the existance of these m codes could they be aussie only ones?)

* CKD (complete knock down) production - (Correct)

WHAT DO U GUYS THINK AM I BEING UNREASONABLE OR SHOULD I GET ON THE FONE AND BLAST WOLFSBURG ?

Dude, I would say that they have given you all the info that they have. If, as you say, your car is a CKD they would not have records of when it left the factory (in Australia), what colour (as it would have been painted in Australia). Any info regarding Australian built or assembled cars is usually hard to find as it would appear that there was very little information being sent back to Germany about the production over here.... If I could get that much info on my cars I would be happy. The only info they had on one of my cars was that it did exist and was sent to Australia (the engine number was different to that listed on the owners manual! :duh ), the other car doesn't even exist in their records.

I have a question for you.... did they (the VW factory) still assmeble CKD vehicles as late as 1965? I was told by someone who has published books on VW's in Aust. that the factory stopped doing CKD's in late '59 or early '60 .... this information was 'given' to me as I had initially believed that my '63 was a CKD car and this is why the German records could not tell me anything more than it went to Australia.... I have been totally confused ever since.

u are right they did stop late 50's but then started again mid 60's

hmmmm, M codes are always fun - I remember trying to decode the M-plate on my Brothers '65 Westfalia Camper... worked out what many of the codes were, but, years later, some are still a mystery. Good luck with your quest!
