My '60's ignition switch is playing up. WHen I turn the key to "start" position, there is no response unless I point the key towards a certain direction.
I think it won't be long until it won't start at all. How does the ignition switch work? It earths the starter motor correct? I only see one permanent live wire, one wire from the starter motor, and one "ignition on" output wire. Where is the earthing wire?
I'm thinking of putting a starter button in, so it adds to my super anti-theft security system and also so taht I wouldn't get stranded. Don't want to get a new one right now, no money and don't want to match the key and all that sort of business.
Can somebody help me?

Looks like I've been misunderstanding the wiring diagrams. The ignition switch send 12V through to the starter solenoid to "activate" the starter motor correct?
does anybody know how I can "clean" up an ignition switch? It's dead now... won't go at all
