I did something stupid today..
I was in the middle lane of a road in town in peak hour, and the traffic in front of me was slowing down. So i looked over my shoulder to check my blind spot before changing lanes, when i looked foward again the crappy early model excel had come to a very fast stop in front of me.
I tried to brake and swerve but it was too late and i clippled the corner of my car with the back right corner of hers.
She was very shaken but very kind.. I'm sure i said sorry a million times.. i felt so bad.. and so stupid..
The back end of her car looked a bit bent, with a broken light and stuff, but repairable.
My car copped a fair whack and i think i need an entire new left hand fender, headlight, indicator lense and base.
Luckily being a car with a high bum my bumper must have gone under it, because its fine.
But yeah, i'm sitting here now, feeling a little bit sore, both physically and mentally.
We have 3rd party so atleast her car is covered.
However we have to shell out for our own repairs.
What i'm asking is can anyone help with the following items?
Left hand front late type 3 fender (prefferably straight and rust free)
Indicator base
Entire headlight
I'm on centrelink with very little money and my boyfriend is working full time with most of his money going into payng of debts, so we can get our own place and stop living with his parents. So we are very strapped for cash.
Any cheap/free parts would be very much appreicated!!
Thanks for reading,
Josie

Just really sucks becuase the Shannons automotive expo is on this weekend and i don't know if i'll be going now 😢

A pic of the ouchies...
hipichic ·
Draw a giant bandaid on a bit of fabric and gently stick it over the ouchies.....then you can take it to shannons and get some sympathy 😉
Muzza72 ·

Judging from that pic it looks really minor, I wouldnt worry so much! 🙂

Right.. i found a guy today with an entire type 3 fastback for $500... has quite a few good parts on it that we need aswell as the fender, indicator and headlight.
And something extra that's sitting in the spot where a clock usually goes.... that has been selling for quite a bit lately... and might help me pay for the repairs + buying the car... mwuhahahaha!
First i have to convince mum to let me put a car on her land... lol..
YIOughta ·
If she has land she is obligated to have a car stored and wrecked on it - its un Australian not to!
has the Fasty got early bumpers - cuz theyd look sweet on you notch
jo_tas ·
Unfortunately no.. its a white '72 model with interesting black stripes on the side, which from memory is part of a short lived pack called "formula vee" which i think included the factory tacho...

Mum has agreed to let me put the car on her land.. in her horse stable...lol
So now we're just finding out what would be the best way to move it the 50-odd km's.. Apparantly it runs.. but we'll see...
squizy ·
Cross fingers for you Jo. The tacho is a good score.
theverybigtallman ·
nice score.
if it don't run, wot a car trailer cost these days?
jo_tas ·
Yeah we're getting a car trailer now... picking it up on tuesday for $450 :kiss
hypo-vw ·
if it doesn't work for you , then give me a u2u . I have quite a few type-3 panels and lights . FREE OF CHARGE !! would prefer to give them away than see them sit on the shelf for the next 20 years .You will just have to cover shipping costs . Wayne .
:beer
jo_tas ·
Arrgh! now you tell us that!! We probably would have done that instead!! :cry
Oh well...
62deluxe ·
Don't worry at least this way you have a full car worth of spares you will probably never need!!!
jo_tas ·
We brought it home today! :kiss
Its certainly a rusty old thing, but thew guard i need is repairable, mainly surface rust.
Also has a set of 15x5.5 inch rims! :thumb
Here she is waiting patiently for us to arrive!
jo_tas ·
We turn our backs for a second and it just jumps on the trailer! Oh well, saved us a job!
Remember this car has been sitting in the same spot for 18-24 months..
Oh and for those interested, the mazda is a 2004 model, just bought by my parents a couple of weeks ago, very nice and very powerful! (turbo diesel)
jo_tas ·
This idiot in a jacked up fastback followed us all the way home... We couldn't shake him!

The number of times you folk write this when you're towing a beast home is hilarious! - I still have a good chuckle to myself when ever i see it... 🙂
Glad things worked out for ya!
jo_tas ·
And back at her new home...
jo_tas ·
And here are the good bits off it! :kiss
As you can imagine i really love my desk at the moment! :kiss
