Its an old trick that has been recycled.
Yes it does work to a degree.
No, the engine wont go "China Syndrome" on you.
If you have a read youll fint the amount added is miniscule.
0.0003 % to 0.0025 %

Worst case scenario, you wont notice anything.

For those who have used methanol based fuels in either racing engines or even model engines it may have be noticed that Shel Racing A methanol runs just that bit better. The Shell chemists say that the addition of 3% acetone helps the engine start and run more efficiently. In model engines, running Shell A instead of straight methanol gives about the same power as adding around 5% nitromethane to straight methanol.

But Shell A is around $3.00 a litre and nitro can be up to $20 a litre so don't get any ideas of using it for economy and power!!

methanol also yeilds per volume about 1/2 the British Thermal Units of energy as petrol so correct fuel mixture is in the vicinity of 7:1
The upshot is that you use twice as much methanol at twice the cost.

Ive been down the road of cutting petrol with metho right up to using metho in my water injection system on the turbo car and its not worth the bother.
