fan belt dilema

My 1976 auto kombi loves life in the slow lane... So much so that as soon as I take her over 80 km the fan belt slips off... Any suggestions?

get a smaller belt or tighten it

Loosen the alternator mounting bolts (not the alternator pulley bolt), swing it further out on it's hinge to tighten the belt, do up the alternator bolts again. If the belt is old-ish, you should replace it with a new belt at the same time (only $10 from auto pro) and keep the old one as a spare.
