Anthiron ·

can someone please explain ratio rockers to me?

what do they do exactly?

how do they do it?

are they worth it on a stock engine?

what would be the ideal ratio for a stock single port 1600?

any other mods that need doing if u whack some on?

how much for a set?

yes - you need to set the geometry of the rockers

Have to make sure the spring doesnt bind.
The cam must be compatible with ratios.
Standard cams are

I wouldn't bother with them from my personal experience. I bought a set (and they are not cheap) of 1.25. Bolted them on a 1600SP. Felt no power increase like claimed by some (bolt on horse power). Two weeks later, one of the bolts holding the rocker shaft to the head snapped. Had to remove the head to get it fixed. Waste of time and you won't get much if any improvement.

cant give you a before and after comparison.
I built the engine with 1.4:1 , ok its a 1916cc
with very close to standard cam, low compression
and at the moment 34 pict carb.
I think that they give my engine good pulling grunt
but I suppose 1.9 L would anyway.
They have done thousands of miles with an absolute
maniac driving, without any problems.
I check tappets regularly and would say that normal
adjustments required - no problems there.
The reason I wanted them is to give flow when I get it on Boost.
