Just wondering how many type3 owners we have on the forum. early or late, square, fasty or notch.
soft notch ·
Just saying to Skewy today when he picked up the pan for the 1500 notch how they seem to be flavour of the month lately... making a real comeback. Personally I can't go past an original early fastie. Mabye we should get our own section on the forum.... 3 is better than 1 any day!!!!
I've got a '68 chopped notch

Thats what I've got in mind...just scoping numbers.
And the splitty's have a club and there's the kombi club.
Seems only fitting to do something similar with the Type 3's
PS I have a beetle as well.

Another one still here at North Richmond. Not many 1500S models left! Anyone out there with a genuine German 1500S Variant?

killakornkobb, I'm 900km north of you. North Richmond west of Sydney. Haven't been down your way since 2001. Usually go that direction to knox. The last time I drove a Type 3 to Melbourne was around 1977 and will most likely stay that way! Great cars but I do enjoy the comfort and silence of later types. As a matter of fact, the Commodore is as cheap as the notch to run from here to Melbourne!

1500S that is such a nice looking notch....not seen that colour combo before on one...looks so good 👍
1500S ·
That was a standard scheme for the imported model. Sea Blue with pearl white top. I didn't follow exactly the white paint line at the windscreen and rear window. It should be curved from the roof down halfway on the rear pillar. I tended to like the squared line.

got a t3 square delivered yesterday... not sure of its destiny yet!
Stanley ·
Well there certainly is some sweet rides amongst the Type3 fraternity here.
Due to the fact there seems to be a few of us is anybody else interested in lobying
the mods for a Type 3 forum for everything type 3, Similar to how they run it on the samba.
Would make searches a whole lot easier.
I'm not out to create divisions in the forum (I have a beetle to and my son has a kombi) just
making it easier to search info, pics and chat etc.
What do we all think ?
GTMac ·
Had my 1970 Fasty now for about a year.................love it!
GASBNR ·
I got a 65 Square, can't wait to get it back on the Road,
Have owned 2 early notches,
Andy ·
'69 fasty man I love that description 🙂
'71 fasty + '71 pan
'73 fasty
'73 square
Don't know about a separate forum, unless you mean a separate topic heading for type 3's only? That sounds good.
BenettonVW ·
Yep.. One of each.. 66 Square, 65 Fasty and Nellie..(68 Notch).
Nice Square Tim.. Wicked pic.

Here's mine...from Victoria!

Learnt to drive in a 1963 Wagon. My first-owned, and so far Favorite-Ever car was a 1970 Fastback, with bendy-rear windows. Had a half-share in a 1970 Wagon. The boss (wife) currently drives a 1971 Fastback TLE auto daily. The Fastback must be one of the best-but-most-underrated models of car EVER. Fantastic handling if set up/tyred well. Can "go" very well if motor up-rated. And the final models (after '71) could stop fairly well I'm told (pads a bit small on earlier models).
Stanley ·
Well at a rough count the tally so far is 37 Type 3's including a few unfinished projects and type 34's.
Nice work. I gotta say again there are some sweet cars amongst them. Keep up the good work.

All info should be on compliance plate which is located in the boot compartment around the spare wheel well.
