Hi guys,
I have a '58 T1 with those *tiny* little wiper blades, anyone happen to know where I might be able to find some on the Gold Coast?
Would prefer not to mail-order cause I'm trying to get the girl ready for a RWC ASAP.
Cheers,
Benno

...correct me if I'm wrong, but a '58 uses the same wiper blades as a '63 doesn't it?
Try any of the VW mechanics on the Gold Coast, they usually keep them - if that fails try ordering them through any of the general parts suppliers (Repco, Autobarn, Global, etc) - they are still made, but not usually on the shelf.
Hope this helps

Some of the Trico blades have a small cutout about 15mm from one end-if so you can push the rubber back and pull it out thru the slot-then just buy any replacement blades with the plastic back-cut off one end and pull the rubber out and cut to length and feed it back into your original. You can usually get enough out of one blade to do 2 VW blades.

Ratty, could you reccomend a VW shop on the 'coast? I've just moved down here and don't know my way around yet ;-)

Hey Benno,
I have sent you a U2U with the details of the VW parts suppliers on the Gold Coast (I don't know what the go is regarding the mentioning of Business names in posts - so best that I don't).
Nbturbo, can you still buy the replaceable wiper blade heads new? I have a set of old ones that I found at a swap meet on my '63 now - much cheaper and easier to replace the blades using them!

Ratty-I tried at Autopro to get some-they have a listing and pics-but each time they turned up,they were about 2 foot long and 6mm wide-from something industrial I think. So I have been getting them from wrecks and storing.they are stainless and polish up nicely. For the moment I am using a small stainless split pin to hold them on-but am trying to find some aluminium rivets long enough to use.
