4 stud BRM\'s on a super?

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/45443/4-stud-brms-on-a-super

akean1 ·

does anyone know if they will go on nicely? or will the offset of brm's make the wheels sit out side the super guards?

62deluxe ·

They shouldn't do.(they are designed to fit all four stud dubs!!) They will be pretty close though. It would pay to run a reasonably narrow tyre

akean1 ·

cool, ive got my heart set on them and was hopeing they wouldnt sit like the honey comb mags ive seen on supers

Bizarre ·

I will disagree

i am SURE that the BRM has an offset of like 20

They will sit wide.

Riveras are 5.5" and 17ET
Empi 8 are 20ET

I have run 6" 50ET and they sit a tad too far in and i presently have 6" 36ET and they are spot on.
These are the same for some cookies i ran earlier.

I will search but i am sure BRM offsets are like between 15 and 20 and at that they are too wide especially for a lowered super

Bizarre ·

here we go

5" and offset 15

Parts Number Products
DR-709 FLAT-4 BRM WHEEL MAG GRAY 4LUG 5J X 15"
P.C.D. 130mm 6.1kg OFF SET+15

Now how to work it out :jesus

ColumBUS ·

i have no idea about wheels tyres and guards, but in my simple experience,
wouldnt a set of widened guards do the trick

Bizarre ·

Yes Kiko but wrong solution to the problem

There is no need to go to the expense of widened guards if wheels selected correctly will fit under stock guards.

If you are set on a certain wheel then that is a different problem

Whoo hoo... will save this little site :bounce

OK... I will say that the 36ET x 6" is at the limit

see in the picture of my olive one

The red one has 50ET x 6"

now by the calculator the red Porsche wheels sit 14mm further in towards the struts

and

the BRMs will sit 8mm further out.

Now i guess it depends what tyres you run as this is only talking about wheels.
Both the pics the wheels 195s

Maybe if you run 165s you might be ok ...... just a little to thin for my likeing

Anyway.... have a play

akean1 ·

thanks bizarre, ill be running narrow tires, looks like it might be ok. i recon ill be tryimg before i buy

Bizarre ·

If you are still doing the guards you can geta bit more space by working the inside of the guard.

I have also seen thick and thin lipped guards.

EgeWorks ·

It depends on how low it's going to be sitting. I had some PI mags (about same offset and size as BRMs) on my car before the current set and they were fine when standard height, but once I slammed it they were undrivable, this is with 165s on it. You may get away with low profile 155 or less tyres, but it will be very close I would think.

empi ·

They fit , fitted a set to a 71 super cabrio and they tuck under the guard and its lowerd a fair bit.
hope this helps

ripper! cheers adam:thumb

I don't have a problem with Sprintstars on my 1303 Cab. Running 135/165's. I think the Sprintstars are the same width as the BRMs.

BUGBOY ·

It`s not the width thats the problem here.
It all depends on the offset of the rim and what tyre you run.
Also If they are 5.5 BRM`s your looking at getting don`t run a 135 on the front as thats just out right dangerous, first corner with a bit of gas on and you`ll take it straight off the rim.
Most tyre places will not fit it if its for road use anyway.
