for the legality im going to palm you straight off to the guys that will know ie the vicroads tech support dept

killakornkobb ·

how would i explain them to vicroads thou?

barls ·

i think you will find that that section will be pretty switched on if its anything like the rta section. but id explain it like i want to replace the bumper with these bars that mount in the same spot but are only a upright bar instead of a full bumper

According to Vic roads they aren't legal last time I checked. I was going to put them on my bug but ended up not doing it. I would think that you'd be fine unless an irate police officer wanted to pick on you... I drove around with no bumpers at all for a couple of months with no dramas... I guess it's just the luck of the draw as I've heard of peoplpe being defected for t-bars before.

If you find out for sure, can you let us all know.

I was planning to put these on a car of mine also.:thumb

I've been pulled over with no front bumper before and I was fine. It may be because the holes were filled in at the front so it looked OG.. that may be the loop hole you can persue..

the issue you are going to have is the t bars provide a protrusion from the coachword that COULD injure pedestrians. gunna depend on how far the t bars extend along the front of the car.

.......thats why you can drive around with no bumpers provided nothing hangs out..........

who cares just put them on!!!

im getting the full red tail lights for my type 3 thats not legal!!

Its funny that you can't drive around with T bars which in the pedestrian would have to be pretty unlucky if they got hit with but it is totally legal to drive the streets with those big steel cages that they call 4WD's ..... Go figure ?
