Warning dead Beetle pics of Fleurs KOC

I went with the camera this morning as I had to wait for the assessor from the insurance company.

Not very nice anymore.

It made Fleur :cussing

and there was a lot of :cry

The door was bent from where my poor wifey's body was flung like a rag doll. She has many bruises on her RHS, but she crys about the car more.

The impact fully pushed the front beam and suspension back and the pan even has creases under the drivers floor. You can see here where the A pillar is squashed into the pedal area

So this is why we are on the lookout for another 68-71 Beetle. She wants the same car, she refuses to change to a pre-68 or a Super or L bug.

The assessor was pretty helpful and understood that it was a 35 year old car in pretty close to imacculate cond with new paint new interior, new tyres etc. The main pain is it is gone, and we have to get another one. 😬

Yeah the bonnet is more curved. It has a crease int it, so it is stuffed too. The A pillar and the skirt panel behind the RHF guard all went up as they went in.

As I can't do anything at the moment because of my back, I cant restore another one, so that is why we will have to buy another good one. The ins company lets us keep this one, so I suppose in the near future all of the LHS panels will be for sale. Along with a brand new Burgundy professionally made full carpet set.

Hell that was some hit - glad FLeur is ok beside the bruises and broken heart from the loss

Poor Fleur.... poor little Bug.... I could almost cry too! 🙁

It's not what she hit, it was the Corolla that crossed the lines on the road and hit her. There were about 4 witnesses and the other driver was charged by the cops. Totally minding her own business just dak dakking along.

will definitely keep an eye out for you. fluer should be able to salvage all the shiny bits and interior from that lovely beasty without you hurting yourself, you would be lucky to find one with an interior and condition as good as that was.

For Sale:- Beetle 1969-German import for which I have the original birth certificate. Rust free and in excellent condition. Colour is Regatta Blue; fitted with bucket seats, inertia reel seat belts, grey velour interior, Scat door trims. Also features JVC CD player with Pioneer 6x9 speakers custom fitted under rear seats. The car is lowered with adjustable front beam and Z bars at rear, Koni shocks all round. Also fitted with 15x6 front and 15x7 rear “Cookie Cutter” Porsche mags, near new rubber all round and re-chromed bumpers. The car handles very well, originally built as a hill climb car. Gearbox has had synchros replaced and shifts superbly and is mated to a 1600cc twin port motor with extractors. Also features Bosch 009 distributor a new battery and is registered until 6/06. This car is a lot of fun to drive and would make an excellent touring or competition car. Custom number plates, VW-996. Insured with Shannon’s for $7000 will sell for $6500 ono. Good thing that Fleur wasn't 1sec earlier otherwise the hit would've been through the door with a lot more human damage. Chin up Pete, good news must be around the corner for you & Fleur Mate.
