NEWCASTLE EURO DAY + CAMP OUT (this sunday!)

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/47701/newcastle-euro-day-camp-out-this-sunday

VWFOOL ·

OK so you have read all about the 3rd Annual Euro Day in Newcastle and you know all the background info. If not click here:
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=45891

Basically, The Hunter MG Club hosts a show n shine each year for European Classics in Newcastle.
The first year only 4 VWs showed up and we were kinda laughed at.
The 2nd year we invaded the place with about 75 or so VWs and blew everybody away.
This year the other clubs have been trying to outdo us coz they were not impressed by being shown up by mere Volkswagen. Well, we cant have that now can we...

I would like to add the Euro Day to the NSW VW Calendar as one of the great shows to attend and something a little different from the Sydney and other shows during the year. Not only do u see mouth watering VWs but also an assortment of concourse Euro delights.

Ive sorted out the final details as follows...

DATE: Sunday February 12th 2006

MISSION: To get as many Volkswagen to the Euro show as possible. Last year we had over 75 VWs amongst 300 other European Classics.

ENTRY: $5 per car, people are free.

CAMP OUT: DNVK have organised a camp out the night before and everyone is welcome to come along and make a weekend of it with us.

We are staying at Birubi Beach Caravan Park (37 James Patterson St, Anna Bay) which is 35 mins drive from Euro Day. Stockton Caravan Park is fully booked that weekend.
Check map 1 on how to get there.

Our camp site is open from 2pm Saturday 11/2 so come anytime after that and is booked under the name DNVK.

COST: $20 per tent site (includes 2 people) $6 per extra person and kids under 5yo free. They have a pool, great amenities etc + 2 mins from the beach and stockton dunes etc. Visit their website if you like for more info:
http://birubibeachcaravanpark.com.au/showpage.asp?id=1

IMPORTANT: Now I need to know who is coming so i can give the caravan park an estimate. ASAP. so hopefully by the end of next week please. They get booked up this time of year so no way will u get a spot if u just turn up on the day. I will also need a 50% deposit ($10) to book our spots.

CONTACT: Please contact me on dnvk@hotmail.com to arrange this.

Now for the 2nd stage of our mission:
Getting to the Show.

MEETING SPOT: We will leave the caravan park by 8.15am.
last year we took over the maccas carpark so this year we are meeting at the Knights Football Stadium Car Park at 9am.
This is on Turton Rd, New Lambton, you cant miss it.

Sydney and Central Coast etc:
If you are coming from the F3 sunday morning, take the Newcastle/Wallsend exit and simply follow the Newcastle Link Rd to Newcastle Rd all the way which becomes Griffiths Rd then turn RIGHT at the main intersection onto Turton Rd. The stadium is 100mtrs from this intersection as you can see on map 2. Very very easy.

Now, at about 10am when we should all be at the meeting spot, we will group into formation for the march to Euro Day.
This year we'd like to roll in by model so Bugs together, type 3s together, kombis, then ghias, buggys, racing vws and misc types. Then we want to park in these groups at the show, but still park all together unlike last year when there was 2 VW sections.

When we exit the driveway of the carpark we need to cross into the right hand lane to make a right at the traffic lights onto Young Rd.

After this turn we will pull over to let everyone catch up who didnt make it thru the lights.
From here we will take a left onto Womboin Rd and follow that around to Karoola Rd and then left into Elder St where we will invade Lambton Park and the Euro Day. Check out the map.

Der Neuburg Volks Klub really appreciates your attendance and we hope to make this a huge annual event, something a little different thats outside of the sydney show circuit. If the camping goes well then it will be a must for next year. I am arranging a special DNVK's Choice trophy to be awarded to our favourite Volkswagen at the show.

what else do i need to cover?
any questions feel free to ask.

REMEMBER:

1. Campers, email or ring me right NOW so i can book ur spot.

2. everyone else, 9am sunday morning at the knights stadium. please come here first, dont go to the park without us.

3. leave the meeting spot when its time to, and wait for everyone to catch up.

4. park all together at the show. I dont want to see any VWs parking on the street this year!

5. Bring any German/Volkswagen stuff like flags etc.
I welcome any ideas that may help us win BEST CLUB DISPLAY for the 2nd time in a row.

regards
Sam

VWFOOL wrote:revision to the meeting spot, wats that maccas called at hornsby or whereever where ppl usually meet b4 the F3?
I suggested to Sam that the McDonalds might be a better place to meet. We don't know how much room the servo would have for cars to wait around to meet up and it might not be as easy to see.

The McDonalds to meet at is at 216-218 Pennant Hills Road at Thornleigh. If you are looking in your street directory it is almost on the corner of Pennant Hills Road and Phyliss Avenue at Thornleigh. There's heaps of parking spaces there.

As you are heading north up Pennant Hills Road towards the F3 it is on your left side and really easy to spot. Another dead give away is the massive Bunnings Warehouse on the same corner, you'd have to be blinder than a coal miner with flat batteries to miss them.

So we have the place, how about a time? How does 3pm sound?

Just to avoid confusion, this is for those going up on for the camping.

Those cruising up on Sunday morning, as per the previous post, meet at McDonalds on the F3 at the twin servos at Warnervale by 08.30.
