The bone collecter came: Bye $750 baja, Hello $250 bug

I just bought a 1969 semi auto bug for $250. balljoint, IRS, disk front end, was regoed till march this yr, was deregoed bout 4 or 5 weeks ago. all it really needs, is an engine, teared seats repaired, recharge the 12 volt battery, get a steering wheel with a horn button (cause the one i got, the horn cap is off it and won't clip on, think somethin's missin, a tiny bit of rust treated (worst and pretty much the only visible structural rust i know of is a little whole in the side of the spare tyre area in the front, that can be sanded, bogged up, not a strengthenin pointwhere it is. Then it can pretty much got for a road worthy test. All lights work, horn works, hydraulic and handbrakes work, all whipers too 😀

So i got this, said goodbye to the $750, and happily sent it to its end, Rest In Pieces baja, probably gonna get crushed and recycled into metal posts or tin cans or something.

The fella picked it up for free. Was Paul, from a local towing buisness, they take car bodies, remove em for free, even if they are as bare as mine, cash paid for some complete cars, ring em on 0405 198 598

1500 bug, Oh i'm so happy bout it. Thanx heaps evan. I got girls lined up to have a ride when i get it on the road and get my licence. Talked to one girl, she turning 18 and having a party on the 1st of april, shes to turn 18, bring hte alcohol, I get the car, and the licence, and her and i are gonna have a party on wheels, HAHA! :thumb

oh, needs rear deck lid hinges, and a few other things bolted on that i got from the 67 (IE: rear seat belts 😀). and a few other little nick naks that are no big tubs.

lol, talk about wear gearing. i finally found out how to get into reverse after 3 days of playing with the stick. I have neva had to push a stick down to the floor, then up before, Haha!!

Baja it, well, i had thoughts of doing it. parents putting pressure on me to keep it original "oh it looks so noice chris, oh keep it original, keep it classic, oh oh, ohhhhh, ohh, chrome, ohhh".

baja - ing it would make it easier on my behalf, no need to fix rust in tyre well, don't have to worry about rear deck lid hinges. I do need to repair the fibreglass kit a bit though. Anyways, will think bout it while i fix it to roadworthy standard. Be a sad waste of $750 from the other bug to not use what i salvaged from it (IE: the kit).

Am thinking of trading my wide eyed baja kit for a bug eyed, and used the spare wide eyed front guards with the bug eyed kit. The nose will go in a bit, cause the front end is shortened more than the wide eyed kit (as was told by one of my vw mentors :P, cheers jace), but in thought, woudl look very interesting to use that idea. (+ more original )

would lookl ok ??? but i do like the wide eye beter ???more lights tho u would spot the girls down the street beter with more lights LOL

better make sure its fast so u can catch them chicks runnin away from that baja. Just schaaaammmmm it, and it can be as slow as a snail cause the chicks wont be able to leave it alone, and the slower the ride, the longer your in it! if ya catch my drift.

yet again, offroaders are awesome. The chicks i know can be a little wild, and are willing to floor it on dunes, playing in the sand, then have a walk on the beach while watching the sunset 😀 How many girls u see these days driving around in big offroad 4x4s so they feel on top of everyone, especially short ones Lol. This is a good debate we whould start, whats more appealing or sexy to a women, a slammed or beasted up offroader bug?
