hi i like the colour of ya bug, but why is it so high in the rear?are you gonna lower it a bit?nice ride anyway

i have no idea why it is so high..i thought maybe it was just me..but obvisiouly its not..i think the people that had it b4 me did something..cause it is rather high

super bugs are very susceptible to chronic arse sag.

a previous owner probobly fitted new torsion rubbers and raised it a spline to compensate.

would be easy to lower the rear to match the front.

the effect is exagerrated by the smaller wheels and lower profile tyres leaving more gap between the guards and tyres.

She's gotta have a name... I have an L bug too, her name is Mildred! She's not on the road at the moment, as she's being painted at her beauty salon, candy apple pink! 😁

Dad took her off the road to fix her up, cos she had rust and a dodgy paint job, and that was over 3 years ago!!!! Once your dad starts, he'll keep finding stuff that needs to be done... it becomes an obsession!

But i'll have Mildred back in about a month (*crosses fingers and toes*), and i'll send you some photos with an extremely happy me next to her!!!

Cool car, supers and L bugs are growing on me everyday, especially when they have monster type 4 engines with the full german look happening. Mad colour too.

wellll guys jasmine is no longer..today has been the most shittest day ever..i no longer have a car.. my baby is no doubt will be written off due to it wanting to go through my house ..my handbreak and everything gave way and went through my garage just after i finished taking photos of it on my driveway..went to sit in it ..was in sitting sideways just putting my stuff into my car..my car wasnt even running went to move to drive it in the garage next minute i know im heading for the garage..i only had enough time to get my legs inside the door..if i didnt i would no longer be walking .. my front end is all smashed..guards and everything F*****... extremely dangerous to be driven..im assuming the insurance company will write it off on monday or when ever..more worried about the house at the moment..i will probably buy it back and re-build it..or buy another one and start my restoration...i dont even have a room to live in because the wall in front of the garage is my room and everything in my room is F***** as well.. everythings smashed..bent..broken you name it is all gone..
its aggrivating me that my car is still here and its all hurt ..no lights or indicaters or my windscreens where broken..just mainly my front end..i cant even get my head deck on my sterio out its all sunken in..

as bad as it feels now...its is better to have u able to walk talk and type...

houses and cars can get fixed...i knwo its is heartbreaking....since jasmine was ur pride and joy...but baby girl, honestly...we here would be more hear broken had we heard u were harmed in any way.

And if they write off Jasmine...we will all come to her funeral and bury her in flowers....then make Jace fix her properly the week after.


PS: if u need a good smash repairer for a classic car...i found one down the road from where I work.

when my car just failed its pink slip i nearly burst into tears right there in front of the mechanic, I cannot imagine how you feel at the moment...(I dont know if my story really has any relevance...but i tried?)
everything will be ok in the end, you have alot of people around you which are willing to help as much as they possibly can which will be very nice
its so lucky you weren't hurt as well :sandrine (physically anyway)

thanks tazz..im not sure at the moment whats going to happen..it gets towed monday to the insurance company to get assessed and its entirely up to them now i have no more say..with no doubt i will be asking everyone to help me out as soon as i know what will happen after monday..dad went around this morning getting quotes for parts nearly up to $2000🤪:kiss

And if u dont..well...just ask the towie where he's taking her, and go we'll all help you go raid her once she arrives the other end, so her spirit go on. Even if your forced to take on a different body/pan

well guys its jess on jace's account just borrowing it while my computer gets fixed...just thought i should tell you all everything thats been going on..monday the tow truck driver finally got off his ass and came and got my car at like 6.30-7 at night even though i had waited all day for him..took my car away to the insurance company to get assessed.. they kept in contact with mum but the news made me extremely pissed..they not only wrote my car off but they whre only going to give me $1000 for my car even though it was insured for more but thats ok..after my blood pressure had nearly boiled my mum haggeled with them to get the price up because they had hardly even looked at my car to see the actual damage...i dont know exactly what they gave me for my car but i really couldnt care at the moment...now because i want my car back i have to write a stupid letter to them stating i want to buy it back and the price im willing to pay for it..at this stage where keeping it at a low amount..and the amount we said to the guy he said to us that they most likely wll give it to me for that price....will not know anything more until they get back to me..but fingers crossedddddd

forgot to pull on handbrake :o
started to jump out and noticed the car rolling backwards toward the neighbours house
and jumped in and quickly reefed on handbrake.. (i thought id nearly ripped it out of the car)

😊hahaha me tooo judy..sooo gladddd shes home..arrived home yesterday night..cant say she arrived home safely..but she arrived..they put freaken forklift marks in my front and back guards MORE DAMAGE..:cry:cussing:cussing:cussing but its ok alll repairable...i believe restoration has started..due to me working 10hrs left my good old dad to get his hands dirty and already start.😁

Hey jess, talk to jace, brenton and the boys, they should be able to fix her up quickly for ya! replace the bonnet, and the 2 guards, and either cut/weld new nose (plenty of donors in SE QLD).

and ur set. If they have a weekend free, she could be fixed pretty soon. Cept for paint... maybe.

BUT as much as you loved your Bug,having an oppertunity to redo it and show it more love than ever by going through it and redoing it,...think of it as still being the car you fell inlove with,only now it will be better

you might one day look at it after its all done and say " ya know,.. that was the best thing that coulda happened to it" and smile as you take a seat and drive away

as someone who has just got their first one back i can tell you it feels great to have the chance to do it all again and finally drive the finished version. let me know if you need any parts as i have half a super at home in pieces

found some BOG due to some big dings under the paint. 😢
and some nasty rust in the roof sill, which is gettting sorted out 😉
after all is undercoated it will be sent to the panel beater to be preped
and painted professionally, hopefully he sticks to his word and will be finished by
late january.😵😵😵

well guys just a little bit of an update.. she's off to the pannel beaters this afternoon to get all fixed up. Has taken so long due to the amount of bog in my car. There is not one pannel on my car that has not been bogged, . But all the hard work that my dad has put in is all worth it . Everything apart from the shell is off to the pannel beaters now, we just have to lift the shell off and finish some stuff on that , then that will be off to the pannel beaters as well. So hopefully that wont take too much longer.. all her bumps, dints, rust and everything else should be all fixed 😁

removed the body from the floor pan so we can finish the bottom section of the bottom and prepare the floor pan so the pannelbeater can take the rest of her😏

hey bug luv, yep i have kept my origianl purple, as i have decided that i dont think i could really have my car any other purple(although i love purple)
Just braught my paint..so shes ready and raring to go 🙄😵😵😵😵

hey bug luv..i havent exactly gone for something normal.. my interior is going to be orange..rather bright orange.. i choose that because orange and purple are my two fav colours. it comes close to the orange used on my springs and sway bar...

i have indeed picked my interior trim, have decided on a 2 tone orange trim, as shown in previous posts, custom door trims and headliner, undecided on carpet yet...the original seats will be re-shaped and re-covered in the two tone orange. the wheel situation im still undecided on as their is so many i like. I have also customized and re-trimmed my dash to be orange. :kiss I will decide on the wheels when my car is on the road and i can take her to dealerships and pick which ones i think suit her the best. I dont have many choices with the original vw stud pattern so i will be changing the stud pattern to a commodore stud pattern, plus i quite liek my polished jellybeans 😂

The Dash has come out way better than expected, Looks awsome.
As for the paint on the body, it will only get better. Its yet to be buffed up.

yeah the repairs he has made to the cracks and the huge whole that was cut out of it in the bottom right has been totally amazing. Can't fault his work at all. i was a bit uncertain with how the colour would come out but its so perfect and matches the rest of the orange components of my car😂.And im pretty sure it will grab alot of attention as people walk past my car. :P

well guys not much of an update as way too many things have been
happening at the moment, things have been kind of slow because i have also been
thinking of investing my money into a watercooled car🙄 . 😀
I am currently waiting to find a wiring harness for jasmine, once i find one then i can get
the ball rolling again, moving onto fitting my interior.
We got a little bit bored in the cold weather today , so what better to do then muck around
with your vw. We mocked up the dash today to see what it would look like against the rest of my car.😵 We also put my new tail lights on my rear guards to see what it would look like. I was very impressed with the choice of my tail lights, i think the dark tail lights really set off my paint work.😵‍💫

an early christmas prezzie for her..
I was looking into second hand pop-out windows but found
a store that had a couple of new pairs in stock for a damm good price

I was shocked to see he had already started on her.
Well Her Pop-Outs have arrived and we are more then happy with them, I am so glad i went with getting new ones for her.
Jace ordered her a few new little bits for her this morning to. some new running boards, scratch plates for the door handles, chrome grill for the vent under the back window, new chrome bonnet strip, and volks script badge.

She is comming together just as i hoped she would.

i recently got my baby back from the auto electrics, i'm happy she has all her veins back now :bounce :blush 🙄 . we have just purchased her some new bumpers, mirrors, blinker lenses, billet alloy running boards, new volkswagen script badge, chrome dress vent grille, door handle scuff plates and last but least my brand new pop outs👍 she's starting to take place very nicely not sure if she will be getting her new shoes first or her interior done but in any case im extatic 😍 with how she's comming along

The front had settled a fair bit from when Jess first got it, But i think we may need to get someone who knows a thing or two to show us how you drop the rear down a spline or 2 Also i think some of that void will fill a little with the new wheels.

Hey Alan,
yea i cant wait for the day she is on the road again, full speed ahead now. only need her to go to the trimmers and she is pretty much completed. To answer your question she will be lower then usual, she did sag alot before my accident, it's mainly the rear end that is still higher than usual. We plan on putting the lowered struts in when we do the engine transplant, when we go back to newcastle we will be bringing back a fuel injected 1916 to go into her, so we will be updating breaks and suspension. But in the mean time just need to get the rear end just a tad bit more lower.:P

Damn, Jasmine is definately the sexiest L-Bug in Oz!

Looks like dad and Jace have been in the shed again today.
I got home to find that they had put my passenger side running board and door on. as well as a few other little odds and ends.









The steering wheel and shifter will be replaced when the interior is finished.

Make no mistake, She will be lowered. But after it goes back through for its inspection. As far a slamming it down on the deck is concerned, its not an option for us.

no joel no baja's for me the only offroader i would own is a manx..
she is still awfully high in the pictures as they where taken when she only just came off the jack's..she is yet to sag so much..nothing else is in my car as of yet..

so tempting to take her to valla and i was originally going to but being such a long trip i dont wish to chance it with her just being on the road after her restoration..😊 so for us its the new beetle this year..😂 will be good to go on a long trip in the new beetle

Wow.I have just read the post from wo to go. After all you have been through it is looking great, but with more to do I am sure it will look fantastic.

I have put my car in for engine rebuild and paint and it is only gone for four weeks. Can't imagine not driving it for as long as you have gone 🙁

Only a few more weeks to go.
