Hi all

Trying to clean out my vw gear from my parents place...

I have a 55 oval in a bad way...no doors, no decklid, no chasis, rusty heaters (1 already removed), no interior, no semaphores etc..basically a shell. Looking for offers for entire shell or

will take offers once its cut up....(this weekend 18.3.06)
bonnet
uncut dash section
semaphore sections
front clip
rear valance
rear window section
all glass

most of the sections are reasonably straight and rust free (well except surface rust!).

There's also a 54 chasis - pretty much only the tunnel section with g'box (unsure of condition). Tunnel is reasonable and salvagable and may be good for buggy build?

55 Car and 54 chasis are located in Parkwood on the Gold Coast. I have a few pics at home so can send those to anyone interested..

I have not posted prices - I have no idea what they are worth - it all has to go so don't be shy..

prefer phone or e-mail contact - s4066047@student.uq.edu.au

Hi All,

After squinting and looking hard the passenger door looks like it is from a late 55 or later, ie it does not have the bevelled edge like an early 55 or 54 around the door trim.

Does the "B" pillar have 2 notches out of it besides where the striker plate bolts? If so it may indeed be an early 55 or 54 body.

There is a difference and I am intertested if it is infact an early 55 or 54 body,

Cheers,

Calcool

i'll give my folks a call and get back to you..from memory though I don't think it has the notches (I know the ones you mean - I have them in my '54).

cheers

karmen ·

how much as is
i did send an e-mail
have u cut it ?

cram ·

Karmen - I've replied to your u2u this morning but no e-mail as yet.

the car is still in 1 piece and I'm aiming to get to the coast with a grinder sat pm....
as is - $200 (i just made that up....its only worth what someone will pay for it- if its too cheap let me know 😂).

the pic with the door is an earlier one - they have since gone to a good home on another oval.
there's no glass either (I didn't mention that in original post)

The shell came with parts that I bought (ie take those but if you have to take all that with you too kinda thing)...
So i have no use for it and its taking up space in my parents carport.

Would prefer to see it go whole and maybe live again (or at least have someone else carve it up...but will I chop it to make it move). Anyway, it seems to be worth more in pieces!

ok, I had few enquiries about this and my apologies for the delay with update. I've been busy with house reno's and trying to write my PhD thesis.

Oval (55) shell is still available. First in best dressed. Pick up from Parkwood, Gold Coast.

Bare shell + bonnet only. No doors, boot lid, glass or other parts. 1 heater channel has been removed but has braces welded in door.

Needs heater channels, but otherwise reasonably straight and rust free. My '54 started in worse shape than this! This is restorable. Its covvered in dirt and bits of plant but is undercover. Pics below.

$200 ono or trade for these bits + cash difference either way:
- front/rear smooth bumpers and brackets.
- 1.4 ratio rockers + push rods.
- oval gear lever + white knob.
- 36 hp shroud with doghouse but without heater outlets.
- a shiny oval speaker grill

Dash - uncut

I hate that all the $200 oval shells are in the eastern states !!

gull ·

Me too

HGFS ·

Not all in the eastern states, I'd let mine go for just a bit more than that, with all the bits removed as his is. Adelaide is closer to Perth than Brissy is...

Hire a truck, buy a heap, ship 'em over to the west and then you can sell 'em back to us....:P

cram ·

as before there is heaps of interest for sections - any takers on the whole car?
