I've cut back and polidhed the roof since then, gradually getting around the rest of the paint too. It'll be shiny but ratty.

My '72 Notchback
Liam_81 ·
my current notch...
I used to have a 72 square that i sold... not sure where it is now, the guy said it was in queensland, it was light blue (same as jo tas), it was slammed, had all louvres (spelling) bucket seats, eyelids, retrimmed door skins, quick shift kit + big stereo. Now i am desperate to get another square, but short nose this time. Holla out if you know of any going.
62deluxe ·
Keep 'em comin'. There has to be more out there!

Love the red notch. The T34 looks pretty sweet too. They would have to be my ultimate VW. I'd like one of each in the shed- a square, a notch, a fasty and a T34 KG. Nice to dream.
Oh and then there is that slammed Hebmuller..........
62deluxe ·
It'd be nice if the shed looked something like this....
66deluxe ·
Here is my 72 Notch, i am currently building a type 4 2 litre for it, then putting it in and then she will be up for sale, cheers Damo.

ragtopp ·
Thanks Steve. I love the old Notchy aswell. It was rescued from under pine trees where she had been left to die. To make it better it goes insane and pulls the big ton (100mph) up hills easy as. I have no idea what has been done internally to the motor, it was in it when i bought the car. Its been lowered in the rear since that shot.
62deluxe ·
I've been in that thing and can vouch for the power, the stopping on the other hand........
Stanley ·
I think with all these type 3's we need our own forum in here
[ Edited on 31-3-2006 by Stanley ]

The brakes are sorted now. Well as sorted as 42 year old drum brakes can be i guess!!!!!!!

Not mine, but found these rotting away next to a scrap metal yard in the middle of NSW while we were picking up a splitty.
type_one ·
And you left them. Shame shame shame. LOL.
Liam_81 ·
no more room on the trailer 🙁 if one was a square back, it would be mine for sure.
ragtopp ·
An early notchy and you left it to die, man let the people know where to get her from if your not interested. Theres demand for notchys matey
Liam_81 ·
We haven't left it to die... the reason why i haven't told anyone is because we are still deciding if we want to go back and get them. But if anyone wants to beat us to it... they are in Leeton, NSW.You will have to talk to the owner of the scrap yard though. From what i know, the owners last name is wallace and he wasn't available to speak to.
Liam_81 ·
oh, i have more pics of them if anyone wants to have a better look. U2U me.
type_one ·
yeah post the pics or if they are too big and you don't want to resize can you send to type_one@hotmail.com
Were they clean from memory?
Cheers
Very very cool. Subtle stripe looks amazing, great car!

69 wagon
bails ·
i remember it well....
bails ·
oops bit small...
jo_tas ·
Photochopped pic.. if only she was really this low!! :kiss
Liam_81 ·
that should be fairly achievable... get to it 🙂
avwboy ·
thats photo shop'd?
how are the nose bleeds? :P
jo_tas ·
Hey! The car's a daily driver.. i wouldn't go much lower than that!
But, the front wheels/tires are stopping me from lowering it.. oh well
Liam_81 ·
You sure? check my old one out, it had pretty wide rims/tyres on it (can't remember the width) and it was lowered a fair bit for a daily + for tyres that size. It only scrubbed when there were 3+ people in it.
Dowit spoonman :P
jo_tas ·
thats spoonGIRL to you :P
but yeah, think the offset or tire profile is too high.. where it sits now there's only about a finger's width between the tire and the wheel arch, when someone is in it. 😠
i didn't want to get low profile tyres and lose my highway speed.. cause that's where i do alot of driving.. oh, and the tyres are 195/65 R15's
Liam_81 ·
Sorry banana girl :P what if you pumped/rolled the guards? you should be able to get it tucking at least.
jo_tas ·
Yeah... the car's in bits at the moment so i'll get it looked into while its in the bodyshop.. i'm getting the rear guards rolled.. its just the front's when the wheels are turned that's a problem
Liam_81 ·
ahhh, bummer. So if you do lower it anymore you will be doing the Austen Powers 200 point turn.... anyway, nothing a rubber mallet can't fix. LOL
jo_tas ·
hehe yep! 😵
Liam_81 ·
*COUGH* DOWIT *COUGH* :P hehehe.
jo_tas ·
I'm getting very close to it.. lol... i think i'd have to put some whitewalls on too...

younger sisters "S"model notch is almost ready to hit the roads again. phat standard look wheels (with hubcaps)are just getting detailed before being strapped on to fill those 'lil guards.
and the weekend runabout will be getting more use over the coming 12 months....

That looks awesome Dumone!
On the yellow notch.. are those flares all steel?
hellbugged ·
jo_tas wrote:That looks awesome Dumone!

mainly steel, a bit of filla to make them blend right tho. the car has been in the family for years.
has evolved to end up with late disc front, I.R.S rear, koni shocks all round, 27mm S.AW torsion bars and whiteline race sway bars, mandatory lowering....handles pretty damn fine. the idea was to set it up so 'lil sissy wouldn't face any handling difficulties-EVA!
pushed along by twin 36mm dellorto fed 1776 with electronic ignition- remote cooler behind front bar a real girly set up:P.....she has earnt herself some more performance with cam, port/polish job and ratio rockers coming soon. maybe one day a subie turbo like the race car
berg stick, SAAS seats, rear pop outs, formuling steering wheel, factory rev counter and instrument clad centre console make driving a breeze
did you have fun at Valla?

You gotta love Jeff's Unwins notch. Pity it isn regoed, wouldnt take much though !

next run is the 10th September, might see if i can get it up to Warrick as well, but hey, it's a long way to just stay in second gear......
