Man! dont paint over that!!
Thats totally psychedelic!!
ruckus ·
Shit. Give mrs Beerdoc my sincere apologies mate!
Dasdubber ·
What you have there is a complex computed topography map of neural activity "hot spots" in your bus - preliminary diagnosis suggests the presence of a tumour in the lower left frontal lobe in the pre-frontal cortex (ie. below passenger headlight) - note the yellow and green colourations compared to the more normal red and grey areas.
The three-dimensional CT images provide a stereotactic rendering of the bus surface. Irregular findings were observed at the right superior parietal lobe posterior of the central sulcus (ie. just above the rain gutter on right side of roof behind half way). Furthermore, they indicated the presence of questionable pathology of unknown etiology in the anterio-inferior aspect of the right temporal lobe (ie. drivers side dogleg). More detailed analysis is required to discount further abnormalities in the parietal (ie. rear corner rain gutters) and occipital (ie. rear corners) lobes, along with the cerebellum (ie. battery tray and engine bay) and brainstem (ie. outriggers and chassis rails).
Consider this first consultation pro-bono, however subsequent appointments will be charged at $275/hr 😁
ruckus ·
Das you need to stay away from electrodes and CT machines for a while!
Dasdubber ·
....or maybe stay away from kombis and beetles - they make you crazy, broke, and yet blissfully happy - all at the same time :o

i want that one.. yeah i know!

I've been using them on the notch, and they kick ass.

koolkarmakombi ·
dont forget Dasdubber inhaled a lot of fumes painting his bug....
ruckus ·
Damn that's pimpin' if I do say so myself. Any experts tell me if this was the right thing to do?
Looks like he's being re-born!
koolkarmakombi ·
it has affected his prefrontal cortex and the solvent induced atrophy has shrunk it to the point that his limbic system is hyperdopaminergic and causing the parietal complex to induce psychotic ramblings probably best treated with a 'fast off ' dopamine agonist like
You queenslanders have got to stop smoking them banana skins
Ye Ruckus you can say so yourself Well done mate:beer
baybuscamperkid ·
damn, looks like a real nice nic bus to begin with! looking foward to seeing what it turns out as. go the p/vans!

beerdoc wrote:You queenslanders have got to stop smoking them banana skins

C'mon now - have you seen the cost of bananas since the cyclone wiped out 90% of Australia's banana supply - back to the old hooch (almost cheaper than banana skins 🙂
Bus looks cool - I'd like to know more about the strip discs, I don't want to go through the warpage on my splitty from sandblasting like my beetle went through!
ruckus ·
I'll post a pic tomorrow Das. $10 from bunnings. They attach to a grinder and they're blue plastic. They actually leave the metal smoother than sandpaper because they spin so fast and they don't put too much heat in unless you're silly.
Dasdubber ·
Sweet - cheers mate!
beerdoc ·

Ah so that's how you're going to power it!

Ok its been a while I have been on crutches for a month now and have finaly been able to hoble from seat to seat to ladder (perched ) to do work on rhino
This roof that I was loosing sleep over I am pleased with its finish
To refresh I the foam fill inside had rotted a section of roof where PMG rack brace was fitted
The original patch taught me a lot in the thin metal work department
Now after getting the roof to my best (with a lot of help from Surfbus Paul) I need to repair the upper quarter where ther is rot all the way down to top of engine lid
I need to repair this proir to painting roof
Have cut out bad stuff
Have donor from bay (thanks chewy) but the corners are different and am making them as we speak

Thanks al
Daryl has been around a while I made him back in the mid 70,s
Finished off the long sill
While I had Rhino on this anle i peened out the inner front gaurd ( a little birdy told me it helps with tyre clearance )
Before
After
BenettonVW ·
Nice Doc. I had a similar thing happen with my long sill side. A match head hole, and an adventurous grinder, and two hours later, I had nothing but a centremitre of bog dust covering the joint and no sill.. he he
Ahh well. Going well mate, keep it up!
CAFFINEPUSHERMAN ·

beerdoc ·
Thanks Pusher
I thought I would never encourage my daughter to become a stripper but you have to stay open minded
These bloody little holes seem to take forever and fixed up a 10mm dent came out ok
BrisDubba ·
Lookin good Doc, but did I miss something in the sequence, why are the spacers/ washers used ?
beerdoc ·
The washers are welded on to attach a slide hammer
It is for applications when its not possibble to get behind panel
pete wood ·
great work mate. love seeing a young girly hard at work on a car too. give her a pat on the back from me. I'm hoping to get my young daughter working in shed when she's a bit older. helps em realise the effort it takes to fix things for them. keep it up. 👍

Dasdubber ·
Nice work doc - good to see you are not forgetting daryl just because a young, new, shiny model has come onto the scene!
BenettonVW ·
A few things Doc.
Those vents are an absolute pain in the ass.. We must have the same bus nearly. Same year, both panels. I feel the pain there.
The Stinger/ Slide hammer thing is something I have been trying to access for a while now, because like you, there is dents in this bad boy that are in places that are double skinned. Slide hammers are available on eBay in a nice little kit for less than $100, usually $70.
Good job with the doors and floor, you are beating me there! (Gotta get on to those repair panels..) But Doc, WTF is going on with that rear door brother? THAT looks like fun..
Keep going buddy, doing well!
beerdoc ·
Thanks guys
JIM the roof gutter had the smallest of splits in it and water has rusted out all down that side in behind the rubber
I have fixed the top half which was a nightmare cause of all the angles (there is picks further back)
beerdoc ·
Had the Guest stripper at it again
This whole side is down to last primer ready for final sand and then epoxy
This Corner is way worse than expected (tell me something new with bus restos I hear yoiu say) will have to replace everything that engine lid hinges on inside and out
More pics later my camera batteries went flat
BenettonVW ·
Ouch..

Just have to weld it up and round we go to drivers side
BenettonVW ·
Okay Doc, nice idea with the boot lid, but.. why?
beerdoc ·
Jim my whole rear floor above engine was rooted all the way along for about 120mm and some of the middle was gone so to get donor floor to match I saw this a while back and thought great idea
I can leave it open while driving and listen to the webers:beer
