I was driving along at lunch today when suddenly my clutch stayed engaged, bugga i said as I looked under the arse end and found the cable frayed and snapped.
They're not too hard to change but it's fiddly. The main reason I posted this is because I wanted to know if 20 bucks for a new cable is a fair price?

I just paid close to a $100 for a clutch cable for my ford EB, $20 sounds real good to me.

sounds fair.

dont forget to grease her up on the way in and for an extra 15bucks (from memory) might as well rerplace the bowden toobe too.

also once you got the cable in and hooked on up front, if by myself, i cable tie and occy strap tension on the rear end of the cable while i do up the wingnut so the cable stays on the hook upfront and its a one hand job to tighten.

I've already got her in (with grease) and adjusted, and the flexi tube looks in good nick so she'll be right, I'm thinking tomorrow I might do the accelerator.

you obviously havent tried tackling the wiring yet then :P

I broke my Clutch cable last Saturday night in the Preston Mc Donald’s car park. I started it in gear and didn't stop all the way home.

I had a spare so I changed it on Sunday Morning.

i took one look at the wiring.... and decided to leave it alone.
if its not really all that broke, it dont really need me to rip it all out and spend 3 months fixing it :P

At least it's easy to change with no clutch!

$20 for a clutch cable sounds OK....

Its probably from Brazil or Mexico, but should last for a few years....

For a cable that long its very cheap compared to other car$ and Motor Bike$$....

A spare accelerator cable wouldn't go astray either.....
as they can also break at any time...
