does anyone know if the old N12 exa turbos can be adapted to a VW?
one in reasonable nick has been dumped on the way to work at boat harbour
its been sitting there all week now will probably get torched soon if its not taken to the scrap yard by the council

Actually this is a project I have been thinking about.

The E15 engine is compact, very lightweight and bulletproof. They come stock with forged cranks and blokes sized rods. These undersquare engines will happily turn quite insane RPM without getting huffy about it. There are a million of these engine laying around the wrecking yards.

I have placed a bare kraut gearbox case over the back of a bare block and the job would be no more difficult than adapting any other kind of engine. prolly a simple adapter plate and a flywheel but this is as far as I have bothered to go with this idea.

However, in the Pulsar, the E15 engine does not support the input shaft of the gearbox so a suitable area needs to be made in the back of the e15 crank to accept a pilot bush/bearing.
Another issue might be the distributer which will extend back over the gearbox.
130 KW is very easy to extract out of these engines using the stock cam.

well i hadnt thought about the whole engine just the efi and turbo
i've heard of some ETs and EXAs running upto 20psi boost
i dont think a vw would handle to well with one of these engines in, they look very top heavy
thats the reason i wanna convert my rotor bug to subi to get the center of gravity back into play

Top heavy? christ dude the ET engines weigh bugger all.

I really cant see too much worry in the real worl with the alteration of CG by a couple of inches.

Those old Nissan ECU's are run purely on MAF and the computers are not configurable and pretty unsophisticated.
On the ET engine, the MAF flap is wide open with full throttle @ 2500/2700rpm.
You can do some mechanical chicanery by altering the spring tensions and so-on in the MAF sensor and you can apply a simple voltage divider circuit using 2 potentiometers to the frontend of the MAF as well. Crude, but you can tune around things to a certain degree.
One nice part is that the distributer shaft is the same size as the kraut one and it would be a very simple modification to attach a VW dizzy drive to the bottom of a E15 Distrubuter.

Worth the bother........mmmmmmmmmm....... Ill let you know some time in the forseasable future!!!!
