When did Type 1V motors change to oilfiller and dipstick "centred" over crankcase and on this motor where can you find engine number?
Thanks

Thanks but yours is also what I am used to-this one is different with vertical oil filler and dipstick above fan pulley and back towards central airfilter system.76camper wrote:Behind the fan housing is where the engine number is (From memory...)
dont know what you mean by a centered oil filler and dipstick but my bus is a 76 model and dipstick is inbetween alternator pulley and crankshaft pulley and filler is infront of the alt pulley. hope this helps a bit

That's what it does- 411/412 and 914s had filler and dipstick at top and some CT /CZ coded type 4's.76camper wrote:doesnt sound like a type 4... have only ever seen type 4's with crankcase hole on bottom right for oil filler and dipstick.... sounds like this one goes through top of the crank case...

Thanks-I am still trying to get engine No.66deluxe wrote:It has to be a 914 or 411/412 engine these have the oil filler and dipstick in top location only. Busses have them at the back. Engine serial number is found in front of the crankcase breather and fan housing on the crankcase or at the flywheel end on top of crankcase stamped diagonally, Cheers Damien.
