Dasresto #2 - Get yourself a bargain! ($9000 ono)

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/50364/dasresto-2-get-yourself-a-bargain-9000-ono

Dasdubber ·

Well, since I have almost run out of things to do on the ragtop resto (well not really - still have lots to do including changing the cooling system - will update that thread when it progresses).....its time to get stuck into the next project.

This will be for sale once completed, so any potential buyers can follow along to ensure no corners were cut! This will not be done to the extent of the previous beetle (that took 2 1/2 years) as not too many people will shell out $30K to buy a beetle (mind you if someone offerred me that much for mine I'd probably part with it so I can get stuck into my splitty) 😉

Anyway, enough rambling, no major mods planned, but should be a nice resto'd bug once done.

Price has been reduced to $9000ono

Feel free to make an offer - see the thread in buying/selling cars section if required.
Cheers
Alan

oval TOFU ·

looking forward to it Al! *rubs hands with glee.....*

Dasdubber ·

Thanks to Lex - bought the body off him (its pan ended up being used for my ragtop) - it is a 1970 1500 beetle that had been fully resprayed quite some time back....but his resto had never been completed (a 21 window bus just happenned to get in the way!). There are some areas which will require attention on the paint....and maybe a few custom touches - time will tell!

There is a brand spankin new black vinyl headliner already in along with tinted windows and new rubbers.

Dasdubber ·

The pan was originally under a 1966 beetle brought in from the UK (hence the body was cactus) - its front seats reside in my ragtop (see unique latches not common on Aussie bugs)....ball joint front and swingaxle rear.

Nice and tatty for now - drivers side pan half will be replaced, but passengers is mint (despite surface crap!). Stripping will start soon! Over and out for now.

Volkswagenboy ·

Nice!
-Staggers.

PrettyBlueBug ·

Awesome! :P '70 Bugs are the best.... 😉

Looking forward to following this as it's updated, instead of reading through 40+ pages of posts all in one go.... 😂

Liam_81 ·

oh wow...

can you please point me in the right direction of your other buildup?

Dasdubber ·

Unless you want to sift through 50 odd pages on here (which is okay if you like) - you can go to this site which has all the pics:

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/album95

buzzbug ·

Its good to see you onto another project.
Loved the last one and can't wait to follow this one through to completion.

Lee.

Craig Torrens ·

balljoint and wide 5...............cool.

Liam_81 ·

Man, loved the pics of your last build up... that army green colour is hot too! is that a bmw colour?

Dasdubber ·

Craig Torrens wrote:balljoint and wide 5...............cool.
Good spottin' 🙂

Liam - custom mix colour - worked with paintshop until I got something that worked. :thumb

BenettonVW ·

Gee's.. the other Beetles motor is still cooling and you are belting into more punishm.. I mean.. adventures... 😉

Nice one Al. Watching eagerly as always.

h ·

cool a rebirth in the making.. sweet

squizy ·

The queue starts behind me. Looking forward to the outcome Al.

ruckus ·

Man I'm so pumped to see what you do with this Alan!

Anthiron ·

u just know this is going to be awesome.

you set the benchmark for DIY restos man.

malcolm ·

great that you haven,t lost the earge to start another project.Question about your last project how much did you lower the rear end and what ground clearnce do you have with the exhaust pipes . I,m channeling a complete 944 rear end 60mm higher anb Iworked out that should give me @ 100to 120mm clearance .Doing this so I can comply with the porsche rear track anb tyre sizes enginnearing is getting harder in vic especally with a long term project.

Dasdubber ·

Cheers guys.

Malcolm, I'll have to measure ground clearance for you but I would say it is just over 100mm (from memory) - I changed the height of the rear end so many times that I have no idea of the overall amount it is lowered from stock!

ang3lsholocaust ·

😵wow looks extremely nice dasdubber...cant wait until its finish..👍

empi ·

Are there Semaphores cut into the front quarter panels....??? interesting mod

Dasdubber ·

empi wrote:Are there Semaphores cut into the front quarter panels....??? interesting mod
Yep, sure are - interesting indeed 😉

Managed to strip most of the pan - looks nice and crusty eh? Time (along with work and money) will change that. :P

Volkswagenboy ·

Geez, I didn't see that at first!
-Staggers.

Dasdubber ·

Well yesterday I managed to remove the drivers side floor pan half which will be replaced. I used an angle grinder and air powered chisel to remove most of the pan first (cut an inch away from tunnel)....then the chisel to pop out all the spot welds.

[ Edited on 9-4-2006 by Dasdubber ]

Dasdubber ·

Under the fram head there was a few spots of rust so I cut out patches to ensure all rusty metal was replaced. Before rewelding the inside was rust converted then por15 paint applied to protect it for the future owner!

Dasdubber ·

Also a bit of rust here which needed replacing on both sides...

Hopefully next weekend will have the new pan half welded in and welds ground back. By the way, the raised section in the pic was channelled to make it smooth rather than having the big step seen in the pic below.

More pics to come - also will hope to have rust bullet applied to pan by end of easter weekend!

Volkswagenboy ·

It's looking great Alan (I know because I saw it yesterday!)
How'd ya go with the channel part on the underside?
-Staggers.

Dasdubber ·

All good thanks Staggers -welding was all complete and went to plan. Cheers for dropping around the beers!

Volkswagenboy ·

No problems. (Although I was tempted to buy two cartons and have the other when I was at the beach!)
-Staggers.

Dasdubber ·

A little more progress this arvo - finished tidying up the remaining spot welds remaining from original pan...picked up new pan half (using late model seat rails as I have late model seats to go in) - by the way if anyone has a junk pan that could donate the late seat rails for the other side, that would be great!

New pan half is just tacked in place for now - hopefully over the weekend the welds will be finished, and maybe the pan will be painted (see how time permits).

Dasdubber ·

Yesterday managed to remove the L-shape early style seat rails from the passenger side.

Also finished welding in the new drivers side pan half.

Come nightfall the new (second hand thanks to nbturbo) T-shape seat rails were welded into position.

Dasdubber ·

Pedal assembly was bolted in position to determine correct locations for mounting bolts and pedal stop (big thanks again to Gary - nbturbo - much appreciated!).

Today the stripping process began (not all down to bare metal as its not necessary) - Rust Bullet will be applied tomorrow, looking forward to seeing how it goes on!

Tonight I just finished applying sikaflex seam sealant on top and bottom to ensure moisture doesn't find its way into the seams, causing rust down the track for the new owner (who ever that will be!).

nbturbo ·

My pleasure-it's gone to a good new home.

Dasdubber ·

First coat of rust bullet went on this morning - just about to apply the second....so far I am very impressed with the product. Preparation is so much easier than por15 and much less time consuming. I will have to wait until it cures and reassembly starts before I can comment on its durability etc, but so far so good. The silver is a really nice colour, and although it doesn't self level as well as por15, the brush strokes are not too obvious (and you can spray it or roll it anyway).

66deluxe ·

Alan that looks better than it did yesterday.:thumb

Dasdubber ·

Cheers Damien :thumb

Bit more progress today - got the underside of the pan painted in Rust Bullet. Still very happy with the product - I used one full tin (one quart) and still have a little left, and that included painting the spring plates and misc other suspension bits.

First pic shows the other beetle looking on jealously feeling neglected :o

Volkswagenboy ·

I can't wait to see it in person again! Well done with your progress!
-Staggers.

frenzix ·

love your work, am hanging to see you start on that split!!

Dasdubber ·

I can't wait either, the split will hopefully be something pretty special. Depending on how this resto goes and how much the bug will sell for, that will dictate when the split resto will begin and what path it takes! I'm hanging to be driving around in a splitty 😉

empi ·

Hurry up Alan , its torture mate ... waiting , i cant wait to see what ya going to do with this one.

Shake a leg buddie.

😏

Ad

empi ·

Ah! you got a splitty as well!!!!

Dasdubber ·

Yep double door panel 😵‍💫

empi ·

oooooh! Nice.

surfncam ·

......and you'll probably finish it before mine even gets sandblasted. Just haven't quite found first gear on this resto.....but I'm sure it'll come.

Dasdubber ·

C'mon Cam - the race is on - I have to finish this beetle before I even think about getting the splitty out of storage so you have a pretty good head start! Also want to build a garage out the front before the split comes home! You'll have to drop by some time for a beer.

beerdoc ·

Com on stop smokin banana skins and get on the splitty

You know you want too:beer

Dasdubber ·

Indeed Doc, I do! Give me time 😉

On another note, I have decided to get the 1916 finished and sell it separately to free up some funds to get the rest of the beetle finished - I will be slotting in a healthy 1600 into the bug later.

So it was time to clean up the case as it was a little dirty - the longblock was assembled when I bought it with very few hours on the clock (all receipts for the rebuild from mick motors were provided). A bit of a polish, some new tinwear (fan shroud and cylinder covers) and things are looking nice again.

Dual 40mm dellortos will be used (they have the CB performance update kits with horizontal discharge tubes already installed) - time for a quick rebuild. More pics when things progress further.

Dasdubber ·

Both carbs have been rebuilt with new kits put through them and some preliminary adjustments made. Just have to modify the cylinder head tinwear to clear the manifolds (got too late to make noise tonight!). Also replaced the manifold studs for longer ones to account for the thicker bases of the manifolds.

Hopefully Saturday the tinwear modifications should be done and they may even be painted (See how time goes).

Dasdubber ·

Did a trial fit of the carbs and tinwear (had to clearance the cylinder head covers slightly for the manifolds) - glad I checked before painting!

Second pic is mid way through primer stage.

Third just shows the shroud which was slightly roughed up with 400grit wet and dry, then wax/grease removed.

Dasdubber ·

I was going to go gloss black but decided to be a little different and went a dark silver metallic.

After primer went down it was hit with 800 wet and dry to provide a smooth surface for the base coat. Two coats of that were applied followed by a couple of medium coats of clear. Turned out pretty glossy.

As mentioned before, due to funding restrictions I will most likely have to sell this 1916 (will be a bolt in for whoever buys it)....this will help to finish the remainder of the resto. So stay tuned. I may install the engine in my other beetle to satisfy potential buyers how it runs.

Thats it for a couple of weeks (away for work for a week or so).

empi ·

Lokkins good Alan.

Ad

Dasdubber ·

Cheers mate.

Not much progress today - just slotted in the freshly painted tinwear - have to source a new breast plate and rear tin...will then paint them up and voila!

Dasdubber ·

Not a whole lot going on lately since I've been trying to sort out the new cooling system on the type IV in my bug. But I've been sourcing some new parts for the 1916cc engine, and modifying the breast plate to block off the heater outlets/risers etc for a smoother look.

More updates to come as it gets ready for paint. Hopefully the engine will be ready to fire up on an engine stand soon so any potential buyers of the engine can hear it running. Cheers

bond ·

alan - can i buy that breast plate off you ?

nick

Dasdubber ·

Nah sorry mate I can't sell it separately, but feel free to buy it as part of the complete bolt in 1916 package that will be for sale as soon as I finish the assembly!

Guess who's been shopping? Luckily my dog gave the nod of approval for the purchase - she thinks the 1916 will make someone very happy indeed. By the way I will have it running on an engine stand for people to hear it running.

Anyway, enough advertising.

Dasdubber ·

The 1916 is getting closer now - an original german alternator pulley is used (along with bosch alternator) - they pulley will be repainted (as well as crank pulley). The fan shroud gives off a nice reflection!

The second pic shows the completed welded breast plate - some filler will be applied to smooth it all out before paint is applied. Carbs are in place - linkage to come then exhaust.

Paddo ·

Alan,
mmm that dark silver metallic looks awesome, is that just done from rattle cans? Is it acrylic or 2pac? Me thinks my fasty would look good that colour......whats the paint code if its 2pac?

Pat

Dasdubber ·

G'day Pat, It is two pack base coat/clear coat. It is a really nice colour. I'll have to see if the code is on the tin and I'll U2U it to you - the heavy metallic makes it a little hard to spray but not too bad if you/your painter has worked with metallics like this before. No pearl makes it a little easier. I can't remember if I had the original colour modified by the paint shop (there is a possibility)...but I'll see if I can figure it out.

Mr Bubble Head ·

I've got to hand it to you Alan your very keen from one full resto straght to the next one. It'll be awsome to see how its turns out.

Dasdubber ·

Getting a little closer to completing the 1916 engine - the breast plate and rear tin (over gearbox) were painted. Pretty much sorted now.

ByronBug ·

:sandrine
Alan what paint did you use to paint your tinware...
I am in the process of doing that now to my resto motor
Judy

Dasdubber ·

Judy I use spies hecker two pack base coat (it was a metallic grey colour) - two coats. Then another two to three coats of clear.

Basically the same paint you use on the the body of the car (ie. using a compressor, regulator/water trap, gravity fed spray gun etc). Hope that helps a little 🙄

Dasdubber ·

Cheers Nick - I love the resto process, although at times it is tests the patience, it is certainly very satisfying in the long run.

Anyway, the breast plate is back on and painted alternator and crank pulleys are back on. Pedal assembly was also painted (forgot to take pics).

Volkswagenboy ·

Hey Allan I was down in your 'burb this arvo, I was contemplating popping 'round for a peek!
-Staggers.
P.S: Is your dog still running around psyco?

Dasdubber ·

Yeah mate, the dog is still nuts - she just turned 4 but is still like a pup!

I actually saw you cruising along at Kirra - I was on the way to have another look at wintersun (was on the motorbike with my wife). I couldn't wave (going around the roundabout....and figured you wouldn't know who I was anyway!).

Volkswagenboy ·

Yeah, ah well.
I stayed down at Kirra Beach Hotel for the weekend, so you were bound ta see me!
Either way, your tinware pictures look amazing!
-Staggers.

Dasdubber ·

Finally I got around to doing a bit of work on this project again after spending so long working on the other beetle.

Managed to fit the new master cylinder and run all new brake lines - would have got a bit more done but rain prevented any work outside. Need some more parts before progressing further though.

malcolm ·

nice colour choice for the pan luv the dog mine knocks of the tools you use

Dasdubber ·

Thanks malcolm - yep our dog sasa is good - never steals any tools or parts!

Managed to get the detailed gearbox into position using new rubber front and rear mounts as well as nose cone seal - front beam hopefully back into place tomorrow and maybe body back on pan soon.

Craig Torrens ·

so are you happy with the rustbullet product ?

how 'painful' is the prep work needed for the product?

Is it better than the Killrust paints?

By the way, looking great👍

Dasdubber ·

Craig Torrens wrote:so are you happy with the rustbullet product ?

Thus far I am very happy with the Rustbullet - haven't had much of a chance to evaluate its strength yet (ie. chipping etc), however the prep required is 10 times easier than POR15.

It doesn't self level quite as well as POR (hence you can see some brush strokes) - but applying it with roller to large flat areas would probably help. I think the reduced time and "pain" in prep is worth it in itself.

I will have some at valla ($66 per quart [ie. approx 1 L]) if anyone wants some - this is on behalf of Andy at Volksfolks (www.volksfolks.biz). Let me know in advance if anyone wants a tin.

Cheers
Alan

Dasdubber ·

New urethane shift coupling was installed along with new shift rod bushing - should make for nice clean smooth shifts!

The detailed front adjustable beam was also bolted back in place - looks like rustbullet but it is actually two pack base/clear coat.

New floor pan seal also stuck into position (need to cut out bolt holes before body goes back on).

Bizarre ·

Dasdubber wrote:The detailed front adjustable beam was also bolted back in place - looks like rustbullet but it is actually two pack base/clear coat.

why not just rust bullet???

Turbo54 ·

Hi Alan, really interested in the rust bullet, just a couple of questions.
Can you 2-pak over it? Can you get it anywhere or just through you?
T54

Dasdubber ·

G'day mate - I am pretty sure you can two pack over it but its probably worth finding out a definite answer before taking my word. Andy from Volksfolks (www.volksfolks.biz) is the distributor - I am merely a middle man since he is in tassie and I am up here. I bought two tins so he sent some extras in case people were chasing them in qld/nsw - you could email Andy re. two pack over the top, or possibly email the actual company (www.rustbullet.com) for more certain answers!

rearengine ·

I heard killrust does just as gooda job and is cheaper too

Dasdubber ·

Possibly - I guess until someone does a direct comparison we won't really know for sure.

Dasdubber ·

Just a few quick update pics - body is now back on pan and bolted in place. Front beam is on and gearbox ready to go (but have to put spring plates back on first). Brake drum backing plates painted and drums and shoes currently being machined. Slowly but surely its coming together.

Gracey ·

Looking good.

Any idea how much you'll want for it when it's done?

Andrew

Dasdubber ·

Cheers Andrew - bit hard to say exactly cost at this stage. I am trying to restore every aspect of the beetle as well as possible, and in as much detail as possible....however I am trying to not go overboard as I would never recover my outlay. Once it gets closer to completion I'll have a better idea of its value (sorry I can't be more help right now).

Alan

Gracey ·

Thanks for the reply. That's kinda what I thought you'd say. I'll just keep watching.

beerdoc ·

Nice work Das

Hope you get time to have beer on Sat at N Berleigh

beerdoc wrote:Hope you get time to have beer on Sat at N Berleigh
Yeah mate, am hoping to catch up for a brew or two. Will keep an eye out on details - I need to give my brother-in-law a hand on his ghia in prep for valla, so providing we can get that sorted I should be right to meet up.

Cheers
:beer

PrettyBlueBug ·

Looking good Das! You deserve a million :thumb's up for your restos that keep everyone hanging on the edge of their 'puter chairs! 😂

Dasdubber ·

Thanks PBB 🙂

In between working on my brother in laws KG, managed to do a little to the beetle today - got the brake drums (which have been machined along with new shoes radius matched) back together (and new wheel cylinders). Rears aren't on yet, may get the spring plates back on tomorrow hopefully.

Nice to meet up with a few members at burleigh today for a beer (esp beerdoc who is in Qld on hols). :beer

Dasdubber ·

After a long time in storage, the wide 5 drums finally were installed onto the ball joint front end - new flexible brake lines ready to go.

Spring plates are almost done, surf was too good today so didn't get quite as much done as expected!

76bug ·

just a quick question for u das, wen u are spraying the 2pac base coat do u let it dry then lightly go over it with a fine wet and dry then clear coat it? or do u just put the clear straight on?

pete wood ·

love wide 5. have you got some BRMs to put on it? 😏

Dasdubber ·

76bug wrote:just a quick question for u das, wen u are spraying the 2pac base coat do u let it dry then lightly go over it with a fine wet and dry then clear coat it? or do u just put the clear straight on?
Definitely not lightly sand before clear - any fine scratches etc will show through the clear, not to mention if you have metallic it will significantly affect how the metallic reflects the light.

If you have a blemish in the base coat, you can hit it with fine wet and dry (eg. a run) but then you must spray another light coat of base before applying the clear (generally each paint manufacturer will have a recommended flash time between base and clear).

Pete, yep wide 5 is cool! I have a couple wheel options at the moment but will hold off revealing until I have decided.

Dasdubber ·

Rear backing plates are back on and hard lines are connected. New bearing seals etc of course - even though they are all stock drums, it should pull it up pretty well considering the entire system is new.

G'box also refilled with oil (new axle boots installed). Lost two bearing retainer plate bolts so will source some new ones tomorrow - then rear drums can go back on. Can't remember if I have the brake fluid reservoir (if not, will have to track one down)....then brakes can be filled and bled. I'll drop it on some crappy old stock wheels for now until I get the rest sorted, then will put on the wheels of choice (still haven't decided as noted above!). Then the wiring, and the engine and all misc ancillaries so lots to go yet.

Dasdubber ·

Oh yeah, last pic is the in built alarm system 😉

PrettyBlueBug ·

Tehehe... look at those puppydog eyes!! 😂

malcolm ·

das so your happy with rust bullet ,I was looking at doing my pan silver with a clear stone guard but it looks easier just to use rust bullet.where do you find time excellent work.

Dasdubber ·

Yep malcolm, am happy thus far with the rust bullet - my only criticism is that it doesn't self level as well as por15, but next time I use it, I'll probably brush the necessary areas that are hard to get to, then use a small roller to go over the larger flat surfaces. So far it seems pretty durable though!

Dasdubber ·

Sanded the tank back the other day and shot some high build primer.

Then the base coat and clear went on (the underside is painted in killrust for longevity whereas the top is nice and shiny in the paint below).

Dasdubber ·

Bit of an update - new steering box and KYB GR2 shocks installed on all four corners. (third pic doesn't show rear shock - wasn't bolted on for that pic).

Overall it is starting to come together pretty nicely.

Dasdubber ·

Thought it was about time to get started on the wiring. I am trying to reuse a lot of the original loom but will be changing to modern blade style fuses. Most connections will be new and a lot of new wire so the electrical system should be functioning flawlessly once completed. More updates soon hopefully although the wiring will take a while!

derraux ·

Alan
What colour is the blue of your car not sure if its been asked before but nice looking colour, love the work of your buildups hope you enjoy the new toy and this one goes to a good new home.
Cheers
Derek

Dasdubber ·

G'day Derek, I am not sure of the paint colour - I bought the body already painted off a mate (its pan went under my ragtop resto)....I will be checking up with him over the next few weeks though as some areas require repainting - will update then!

By the way, for anyone reading I've decided to try and get this beasty ready for the Warwick drag weekend - I will be putting my type IV in for the weekend (if I get it all ready) then removing it so a 1600 can go back in prior to the sale of the completed resto - so stay tuned over the next month!

Tazz ·

Nice work Das....

Thanks for all the progress pics.... we will have to get some AVD guys together for lunch... Liquid lunch....

Tazz

063bug ·

A street meet would be good.... not so much a car show but a get together at a good pub

Dasdubber ·

Yep, would be cool to catch up for a couple of beers some time plus a cruise.

Been making a little progress on the project - wiring is not too far from being sorted. Also I've got the wheels and tyres (145 fronts and 185 rears) ready to go on (you'll have to wait a little longer to find out what they are), but here are the tyres anyway.

I've installed gas struts on the bonnet to get away from the pesky springs, also the empi shifter was slotted in place. I've been painting a few bits and pieces like bumper brackets and steering column tube etc - hopefully it will start to come together quickly once a few parts arrive that I've been waiting for.

Cheers

dangerous ·

Hi Alan
What side wall profile are your tyres?
I can see they are on a 5.5 rim, but what are those rims ???
I love the suspense you always set up...like a book you cant put down!
DB.

Dasdubber ·

Hey Dave,

The tyres are nankang 185/65 and 145 (don't have a side profile written on the wall).....the wheels, well you'll just have to wait a little longer for all to be revealed! (they are nothing that different or exciting, I just thought I'd tease for a little while!).

Dasdubber ·

malcolm wrote:alan did you spray the rustbuulet on or brush it .is there an australian dist or do you go through the NZ dist
Malcolm,

I bought mine from Andy at www.volkfolks.biz - around $66 per quart tin (just under 1L).

I brushed mine on but I think it would give a better finish (no brush marks) with a small disposable foam roller (I used this technique with some killrust and it worked well). I have four quarts still which Andy sent up to me - if you did want some I can send it/them to you and you can just sort out payment with Andy (otherwise you could order it directly from him of course).

Cheers
Alan

PS Staggers, not quite....wide 5 drums and cookies don't mix. :P

Volkswagenboy ·

Shhh I knew that!
*Goes to bed*
-Staggers.

Dasdubber ·

Pretty happy with the wiring progress thus far - pretty much all sorted (pending trouble shooting after I get a battery). The new Facet electric fuel pump was wired up and new lines were plumbed in place with filter prior to and after pump.....as well as at the end of the main line up the back of the car.

It is definitely overkill, but for the sake of cheap disposable filters, you can never have too much protection so they say. A lot of the original loom was maintained but some new wiring integrated along with the new blade style fuse panels. Just a few misc underbody pics to follow.

Dasdubber ·

'Tis mightly clean under there - someone should be pretty happy with this car once done. The RustBullet looks pretty cool against the black details.

Looks like I may not get the type IV in for the Warwick weekend so I'll probably be racing with a stocko 1600 - should still be lots of fun though. The type IV requires the later style throw-out bearing which slides on the guide tube. This early box doesn't have the tube and although an adaptor is available (~US$80), time and money unfortunately don't allow the change.

So my plans are to try and finish this thing and have it registered before the warwick weekend with the 1600 that will stay in for the sale. That is of course unless plans change again! (as they seem to do)

malcolm ·

where do you find time ,❓

Dasdubber ·

Still waiting for my business clinic fitout to commence so I have a few days spare of late - this will change once the doors are open though I am sure!

dangerous ·

I have a ring somewhere here that can be fitted to your clutch
for the early throw-out bearing...what clutch do you have?

Your not getting off that easy!!!

blup58 ·

Good on ya Dave - keep sticking it too him!

He tried to give me some lame excuse about not having the part that needed on the phone the other night.

Blue Bug + Type 4 = Nice Burnout on Burnout Pad????

Dasdubber ·

Dave, I have a standard type IV 215mm clutch and pressure plate, but the box has the early style throw out bearing. I totally forgot about those rings for the pressure plate - if you have one I'd be happy to use it!

You are a bad influence brad! I'd be happy to run the type IV...as long as I don't have to shell out too much more $ to get it in the blue bug. 🙄

Dasdubber ·

By the way, anyone know somewhere in oz I can source a new mallory unilite dizzy and promaster coil? Aircooled.net was out of stock and couldn't tell me when they will get one in....my old one stayed in the ragtop on the 1916 so although I'll have access to a gt40 and 009 for warwick if necessary (thanks brad), it would be nice to have the mallory in place!

blup58 ·

Just that little devil sitting on your shoulder leadin you astray!

dangerous ·

And perhaps one of these might be of use...

pete wood ·

"darl, you should open a shop..." 😂

Dasdubber ·

Hey Dave, is it okay if I borrow that bearing adaptor then? I'll obviously replace it if I happen to destroy it! You may just be my saviour for some type IV power at warwick rather than a measly 1600! (not that there is anything wrong with that)

Not that the type IV will be pumping out much power, but at least it should be a bit more fun!

dangerous ·

No wuckers, drop around any time.

Dasdubber ·

Cheers Dave, will give you a buzz.

warb ·

"you should really put a line lock on....that would be fun yeah?"
"you do realise that your type IV is only 1971cc - you know what they say about men with sub 2L engines right?"
"I think your wife could do a better burnout than you - better prove me wrong..........now....I'm not kidding"
"so when you sell the blue bug, are you going to order the turbo, fuel injection and 103mm nikasil coated cylinders?"

hehehe....nothing like a bit of peer pressure! (as you know 063bug!)

I think the same amount of effort and attention to detail...just not sinking quite as much $ into this resto otherwise I'd lose too much money! :o

koolkarmakombi ·

Dasdubber wrote:otherwise I'd lose too much money! :o
Ouch!:beer

bajachris88 ·

hey Alan, what kinda $$ u rekon u'd be asking for this machine when its done?

Dasdubber ·

I will have to wait until it is finished to give an accurate price after I tally up the costs - if I get my money back for parts and materials I will be happy....if I added up all the labour it would be uneconomical for anyone to purchase (hence why I couldn't do this as a business). Hopefully by the end of september (after warwick drag meet is over) I will be able to advertise an accurate price.

Cheers

dangerous ·

I love wide five, big window cars!

Dasdubber ·

Bit more progress today - new steering wheel and hub is on. Last tie rod end which I was waiting for is now on and bonnet and decklid seals are on as well. Still haven't got a battery just yet to check electricals but probably will do so next week. With Dave's pressure plate adaptor ring I will hopefully get the type IV in there soon too!

i know this little guy ive got one the same that whispers to me when driving chaos. they are called the little voices i think. but seriously das this looks great keep it up

063bug ·

It's all an absolute credit to you..... the attention to detail on a car you know you won't own..... somebody out there is keeping an eye on what might be theirs soon.....😎

Dasdubber ·

Cheers Alan - I'm sure someone will be happy with the car when its done!

I've been trying to plug away to get things done so it will be ready for Warwick - still lots to do but I'm slowly getting through the "to do" list.

One of the headlights are in and working (other one to come soon)....decklid is on but need to sort out adjustment as it obviously sits too low at the moment.

Dasdubber ·

New Bosch 12V battery is in - looks small but 305CCA should be more than enough to turn over all but the highest compression VW engines! 1/0 gauge custom ground cable ensures adequate earth, and 4 gauge power wire feeds a distribution block under rear seat (where old regulator used to be) to distribute power accordingly.

Next tasks (when time permits) include painting a few bits like semaphore outer shell, decklid licence light cover, tail light housings etc......then an engine bay firewall cover in aluminium....then type IV in....and miscellaneous other tasks in between!

With regards to the brakes, does anyone have the hard steel pipes which go from the reservoir to the master cylinder (connected by the blue rubber hose which I have)? I don't have the pipes but would like to bleed the brakes soon! Cheers

Alan

Dasdubber ·

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the new vw in the dasdubber collection. This one will have to wait a while for any resto so I'll keep it under wraps so no pestering will cause me to divulge!

First the 70 bug has to be finished and sold, then a carport is next before I start anything else! Then I'll have to determine if its the splitty, the notch or the "other" vw....depending of course on how well "Pacific Hearing" is going at Helensvale (Westfield Shopping Centre) - plug plug. If business is slow for a while, restos will have to wait! :P

koolkarmakombi ·

Tease!

Dasdubber ·

Managed to shoot the primer, base coat and clear coat on miscellaneous bits and pieces that required paint...turned out pretty well.

Hopefully tomorrow I will install the new fuel line (decided 8mm would be better than the stock small diameter pipe)...and a few other things to get the type IV ready for installation!

Dasdubber ·

Hmmmm.....gee I wonder what the new project is?

Don't worry DSK brothers, the splitty is still fresh in my mind - I just need some more room first - those damn kombis take up so much space! :P

malcolm wrote:alan whats your dog been smoking😏

The dog is just on a "natural high"!

The colour is a BMW colour called Mauritius Blue - has some metallic and pearl in it....pretty nice and a little tricky to spray (not as hard as the custom colour of my old ragtop though).

By the way malcolm, your project is looking awesome - stick with it mate, these are the hard yards your slogging through right now!

sahara beige or the similar australian colour me thinks.... with the red interior, judging from the hub caps.

as always looking foward to what you will show us next.

Dasdubber ·

Volkswagenboy wrote:It's an oval with a nice old roof rack!

-Staggers.
Quite possibly staggers although the roofrack is my old one made by Harding European years ago....and the paint has been resprayed some time ago (doubt it is an original colour). I have some plans for it but it will have to wait patiently for a while!

Dasdubber ·

Today I managed to run the new fuel line under the pan. Before you worry about copper fuel line fatiguing.....don't worry - it is steel line with a copper coating to help avoid rust. It is 8mm so will flow a little better in case the new owner wants to put a big engine in there one day.

Hopefully will get some more done tomorrow (in fact I have no choice - I have to get this thing wrapped up soon as Warwick is fast approaching!).

nbturbo ·

Alan-don't muck around with the hard lines from the resevoir-get some black plastic brake pipe from your Brake place-is a nice tight fit into the blue hose and is easier to fit up.I just cut a small piece of fuel hose for each one-slit it lengthways and slipped it over the plastic where it sat against the frame head-will never rub thru.

Dasdubber ·

Cheers for the tip Gary - I have some steel lines on the way already but it is good to know the alternatives for future projects!

Dasdubber ·

Had a fairly productive day today - thanks to Brad for lending a hand...made life a lot easier!

After making a cardboard template, I cut out the aluminium firewall cover - I made it two piece to make it a lot easier to install and remove if necessary. First pic shows the Holley regulator in place, however it had to be relocated further to the left as the oil cooler housing fouled it when engine was installed.

The type IV was slotted in place after some struggling - thanks again to dangerous for the pressure plate adaptor! Obviously the DTM shroud is painted in the old ragtop green colour....since the engine is only in for the warwick meet I didn't bother repainting it.

Tomorrow hopefully carbs will go back on and all other engine ancillaries. We'll see how time goes - at least the days are getting longer!

Volkswagenboy ·

I'll be in Palm Beach taking a look at my Godfathers' new trike on the weekend, I might drive by and see if I can get a sneak peak on the way past!!
Very nice job with the fuel line. Just wondering though, is it safe under the pan like that? I guess it would be as it's only, what 10 mm OD?
Just a technical question, have you put larger fuel lines through the tunnel before, and if so how hard is it?
-Staggers.

Dasdubber ·

G'day staggers, no probs dropping around - I think I should be home. With regards to the fuel line, it obviously is going to be less protected under the pan like that compared to the through the tunnel. However you would have to bottom out over a big hump or something to damage it - it would be one in a million to have a rock flick up and pierce it....I'm not too worried about it.

I installed a 10mm stainless hard line through the tunnel of my old ragtop (well my mate Alan did most of it!)....it was quite a struggle even with the body off the pan. It can be done but it is hard to get it right and takes a fair bit of time.

damo66 ·

G'day Alan,I reckon that motor would look much better in my beetle mate,it's just the wrong colour for that one!!!
Cheers
Damo

Dasdubber ·

Hehehe Damo - it would just happen to be a perfect colour match hey! Hope the ragtop is treating you well - can't wait to hear the 1916 after you get the new heads and exhaust all on. 👍

Dasdubber ·

Managed to get the carbs on as well as exhaust - although the custom rear apron (exhaust cutouts were filled) is very very close to the exhaust dump pipes. So I'll address that over the next week, although at warwick I will be running no exhaust (will weld up a straight outlet ala stinger but just without the taper).

Engine bay looks messy whilst waiting for the dizzy from the US - will get the wiring sorted shortly (time always disappears eh?)

Started cutting and polishing the body this arvo as well so that is looking nice and glossy. Hopefully will finish that tomorrow.

1916 ·

you are doing a great job so far for something that wont be your car.

i bet you keep it. haha

the colour is cool too.

063bug ·

I now know who the new owner is of Dasresto ver 1...... hope you're enjoying it.... 😎

damo66 ·

I'm lovin' every minute of it.I'm changing a few bits and pieces to personalise it.I'm putting the 1916 in to my Samba and have a very healthy 2110 on the way for the rag.Should get up and boogie then.
Cheers
Damo

Dasdubber ·

Good stuff Damo - I bet the 2110 will make it even more enjoyable! You'll have to take me for a spin some time once its all done (likewise for when I "finish" the notch....although that will be a while away!).

Dasdubber ·

Today I managed to finish the cutting, polishing, and swirl removing of the entire body - takes bloody ages but is worth the effort as the paint has come up beyond my expectations. Once I finish the rest of the assembly I'll wax it too for extra protection.

The first pics are after polishing but before swirl removing.

The third just shows the notch in the background.

[ Edited on 19-9-2006 by Dasdubber ]

Dasdubber ·

And this is what I feel is the money shot! The reflection tells the story of the paint finish....pretty shmick in my opinion!

As per usual ran out of time with all the running around for the business (yay the fitout of the clinic starts next monday!)....I'm going to struggle to get it done for Warwick but there may be a few late nights over the next week and a half to get it there! I would have liked to have it registered before the meet but I don't think it will happen, ah well.

blup58 ·

Nice Al - Looks a bit better than on the weekend.

Hope Little Blup58 didn't add any repair work when he was hovering with those sharp tools.

I think you need to retract that comment about - struggling to finish it by Warwick.

I find the comment offensive and as a moderator on the forum you should know better.

Change it to something along the lines of - "It will be finished for Warwick and I intend to be dropping big smokey burnouts in my shiny car!"

I find this much more productive and pleasing to the reader.

Just fulfilling my role as the devil on your shoulder!!!

[ Edited on 19-9-2006 by blup58 ]

Dasdubber ·

Hehe....funny guy you are! 😉

I think I will be struggling, but don't worry it will be ready!

By the way no damage from LittleBlup - I think he is definitely a volks enthusiast in the making.

Dasdubber ·

Managed to get the wheels on today after cutting down all the bolts (too long thus fouled internal brake components). These pics were just after it was dropped from the jackstands so nothing has really settled yet - obviously I will want it a bit lower than this!

I changed the rear tyres to Nankang 205/65 15s but I will have to see if they have adequate clearnace for the guards - if not, the 185s will have to go back on (damn long axles!).

Got dicked around today after being promised a starter motor which didn't eventuate....but luckily Alan (063bug) will lend me his for the weekend so I can get this thing started - not long until warwick now. Hopefully I will pick it up tomorrow. Over and out for now.

Dasdubber ·

Well - what a couple days of trials and tribulations!

To give you a quick update, I finished the engine installation yesterday and was all excited about firing it up....until I couldn't turn it over by hand at all at first. After some checks (take out starter motor, pull off carbs to check I didn't leave any rags in the ports!, listen for flywheel rubbing in bellhousing etc etc).

Gradually it became easier to turn over but still had a really hard spot (when cylinder 1 was going up on its compression stroke)...this got me worried - checked all tappets (no bent or dropped valves thankfully). Tried turning it over with starter motor which it did, still with some difficulty on cylinder 1 compression but didn't fire. Packed up for the night pi$$ed off ready to pull engine and replace with 1600 for warwick.

Under desperation I called dave "dangerous" butler for some guidance - he kindly donated his time today to lend a hand. Thanks for your assistance Dave, its people like yourself that make this hobby of playing with veedubs so special! Problem #1 turned out to be a fuel filled cylinder #1 - on compression stroke with valves closed it was obviously hard to squash all that fuel - the engine turned over easier and easier by hand as the fuel disappeared. Sweet.

Despite me assuring myself that I checked and rechecked all the obvious things, Dave diagnosed my mistake in about 90 seconds flat - I mixed up #1 and 2 spark leads on the dizzy cap - once sorted it fired up!

So Dave kindly donated some more time to do a quick front end wheel alignment and left with me much happier than when he arrived!

Dasdubber ·

So after bolting down the fuel tank, tightening up miscellaneous bolts, I wanted to give it a run around the block.....but couldn't get 1st, 2nd or reverse - "oh $hit" I was saying worried what it could be this time. Tried adjusting shifter without luck but I was sure it was the shifter that was the problem - swapped it with the notch's stock shifter and voila - reverse, 1st and 2nd all sweet!

I think the shifter holes may just need a bit of elongating and it will be sorted (will tackle that tomorrow). Once the shifter was sorted I gave it the first spin around the block and all I can say is that thing hammers (or "hauls ass" as the yanks would say).

Now I can't wait for warwick! Tomorrow I have to install one more window, fix a small fuel leak on one carb, and a number of other jobs to prepare for the strip.

Here are a few pics after the carbs were synched and suspension had settled a bit - I'll leave the 009 and gt40 coil in for now (I received my mallory dizzy today but the promaster coil I got was a dud).

So all is happy, better get back to work - too much to do before friday!

Proud_Dad ·

Thats some awesome work mate,
inspiration to us all

koolkarmakombi ·

Right on mate!

The emotional rollercoaster of the tweaking 😵

I hope all goes well mate, pity about the coil...

The question is Al if you let him drive yours, is Alan going to let you have a rip with his new monster??

Dasdubber ·

As long as he doesn't keep it locked up in the garage, then I'll be happy (regardless of whether I get a drive or not!). :P

Looked and sounded awsome Al, I usually throw bricks at hoons in my street but I'll allow anything VW.
Cam.

Dasdubber ·

Thanks Cam, I thought I'd give it an extra squirt of the "loud" pedal for ya on the way past! You're lucky I didn't do a lap around the block with the muffler off and homemade stinger on - that would have got all the neighbours in Palmy cranky!

On another note, I pretty much finished the carpet today and installed the door and quarter trims. Drivers seat is in place and may throw in the passenger seat for Warwick. A few other niggly little jobs are also done including running boards, another brake bleed and adjust and misc other tasks. Not long to go now - we'll see how it goes on the weekend!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to take you for a spin Damo (and 063bug) - I'll leave the engine in for a week or two maybe so if you want a drive be quick to come down the coast before it recieve the 1600!

Here are a few pics at warwick - managed to get a lot of bits and pieces done and it performed really consistently - no dramas at all with brakes, gearbox or anything else which was fantastic. I took it easy taking off from the line (rather than side stepping the clutch) as I wanted to treat the gearbox kindly. All went well!

66deluxe ·

Yes was cool watching you race on the weekend Das, and you beat Brad once or twice i think, not bad for a stock type 4 with twin dells, will have to come down Sunday maybe, but as usual probably have a hundred people wanting me to help them on the weekend, but i will try. Nice car in the flesh too mate you are the man when it comes to getting projects done, talk soon, cheers Damo.

nbturbo ·

Hey Das-what did you use for belt line seals for the 1 piece windows?I'm doing mine at the moment.Trying to figure a way to make a better system to keep as much water as possible out of the doors.

dangerous ·

What rear tyres did you end up with Alan?

Dasdubber ·

Gary - for the warwick weekend I didn't run any belt line seals for the windows (ran out of time). I saw a neat idea on the "Cool 56" purple hot rod oval - he was saying he used a rubber strip right around the perimeter of the window opening from clark rubber - he had to cut one edge off but it looked super neat. I'll post pics once I figure out what I'll do.

Dave, I ended up leaving the Nankang 205/65 15s on there - once the suspension settled they tucked in nicely!

robnjo ·

G'day SD, I will have to check who originally did the paint work on the car (my mate who owned it previously paid someone to do it)...will try and find out for you.

With regards to warwick - if you are talking about saturday 30 september, I would have been there at 9am - the convoy left for the main street at 10am before returning at 12 for racing. Then sunday 1 october racing started at 9am so I was definitely there.....you didn't go the wrong weekend did you? Silly question I know (no offence intended).....but not sure how you missed it otherwise if you were at the drag strip at 9am on either sat or sunday of 30sep-1oct.

ctefeh ·

Alan,
I saw on your other bug you went for a watsons kit for the wiring. This one looked a little more home grown, is that the case? And did you route main power to the fuse boxes first rather than through the light switch as per a '70 model?

Regards
Sean

bails ·

headliner looks a treat das.

Dasdubber ·

Cheers Bails.

Sean, I routed the power wire as per standard vw through light switch - I have just replaced the standard fuse box with the modern blade styles....just needed two blocks because from memory the standard had 10 and these new ones only had 8. Cheers

Dasdubber ·

Pulled apart the healthy 1600 twin port and cleaned, prepped and painted everything before reassembling. Although the engine has not been rebuilt whilst in my possession, it is very healthy and didn't see much use in its previous vehicle (potential buyer can feel free to do a compression test....I just didn't have a compression tester hence why I didn't do it).

It is a nice reliable solid engine - will be buying a new clutch and pressure plate hopefully tomorrow before the engine goes in - not long now till its completed!

Dasdubber ·

Managed to get the 1600 in place yesterday and did a quick tune - running nicely!

A few other miscellaneous jobs (nothing exciting) have also been ticked off the list - getting closer. :bounce

Although the heaters won't be connected, I'll pop some hoses on (but will block the outlets) just in case someone wants to return to heaters when the car is sold.

Dasdubber ·

Last pic for now. Bumpers will be sorted soon as well.

pete wood ·

looks great with without the bumpers, how about some T-bars instead?

Dasdubber ·

I'd love to run the T bars Pete but unfortunately wouldn't get it through rego! So will have to go with bumpers unfortunately 🥲

Dasdubber ·

This little beasty is getting closer to finish - I guess it will debut at the Coomera Gold coast show on 5 November (will be registered and for sale by then!).

Bumpers are on (obviously early blade style) and window scrapers are on.

Cheers

And yes - the rest looks superb!

Dasdubber ·

063bug wrote:That's a good looking set of window scrapers.... where did you get them from?
Yep I spoke to Jeff at warwick - both him and another young dude I spoke to at gold coast veedub did the same sort of thing.

They are modified rubber strips purchased from a foam and rubber place (like clarks rubber, but different name for the one down the coast). I bought 4m fora bout $28. I had to slice off one side and glue them in place (I started doing the proper scraper thing but it is near impossible to drill holes in the window channel section!).

This was the best compromise - turned out pretty well 🙂

Glad you like the bumpers, I would have loved t-bars but these look okay. I think it is a pretty tough looking car :P

pete wood ·

that's a great looking car. like a US spec 66. you should do ok out the sale I reckon. I'd be proud to own it. 👍

555bug ·

Hey Alan, can I have a chat to you about the one piece windows at some point? I've got mine in and have been down at Clark rubber but I can't find the profile I'm after. I'd love to see a car all done and find out any handy hints you have after the job. To be honest I found this to be a tricky project to say the least, no info out there in the web.

Cheers Stephen

Dasdubber ·

Managed to make up some custom aluminium indicator brackets this morning - turned out pretty well and nice and stable.

Touch wood I'll have it registered ready for the show on the gold coast next sunday.

Dasdubber ·

Managed to get the front and rear sway bars on yesterday (heavy duty front with urethane mounts).

Also more good news was it passed road worthy certificate first go with no probs today....so hopefully will be rego'ed tomorrow!

Thus it will be at the show this weekend and possibly up for sale in the next few days.

Well it is finally registered so time to sell!

I'll add details later re. price but for now here are the pics.

Dasdubber ·

Engine bay is nice and clean (will make some covers for the holes in the breast plate shortly). I haven't had the time (or knowledge) to wire up the semaphores to work on 12V - someone with more time and autoelectrical skill could do it though 🙂

Dasdubber ·

Nankang 145 fronts and 205/65 rears just in case you wondered.

Dasdubber ·

Seats and door cards are not brand new but are very tidy indeed. Headliner and carpets are new however (some mats are up front hence why the seam is in a funny place).

has finished up well

well done

Looks the goods as per normal for your vechiles:thumb

Somebody will get a great car

NOW LETS SEE SOME SPLITTY RESTO:beer

Dasdubber ·

Cheers mate, don't worry, I haven't forgotten the splitty!

I just need to allow my business to establish itself (opens next monday) - the better it goes, the sooner I can start the panel!

Dasdubber ·

For anyone interested, the beetle will be for sale for $11,500 ono.

I feel this is a reasonable price given the amount of money spent on it, and the time involved in getting it to this condition.

It will be advertised elsewhere so if you know anyone who would like a super solid body off resto'd "looker" - better get in fast 🙂

This car is a real credit to you! Damn awesome and at that price its a bargain!

I have seen this car in the flesh and it is abloloutley SUPOIB!
There is nothing that it is lacking....

Well..... a little more power....

This would be the perfect "first car" for a "Young Dubber".

I can also vouch for the quality of work put into all of Das's work and if you wanted a good reliable daily driver then this would be the one to buy.... Das wouldn't sell it unless he was happy with it.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.....gold

Had a good look at Alans work today at the show, very nice indeed someone buy it as it's worth the Money. Cheers Damo.

Dasdubber ·

Thanks heaps guys, your compliments are much appreciated!

Testament to your perceptions of the quality of detail, the beetle won Best Late Beetle at the Gold Coast show on Sunday! Very stoked 🙂

I ran out of time to buff out a few sanding scratches before the show but these will be buffed out shortly so the paint will be tip-top all round!

Cheers
Alan

Well done Das on another wicked resto!

Hope this one finds a a good home. 😁

Love the car, love the wheels .. loved it without the bumpers too!
Mate I've done resto's before .. are you leaving out all of the swearing and frustration parts or are you just bloody good with volksies? 🙂

Don't worry, there was more than a fair share of swearing and frustration throughout the resto! I guess that is what I am saving a potential buyer - lots of time and frustration! :P

Dasdubber ·

I've decided to drop the price to $10,500 ono - perhaps this is more affordable? Time will tell I guess. 🙂

Dasdubber ·

Been enjoying a couple of miles in the beetle lately - nothing really to update apart from a few pics. Hopefully once it sells I can let this thread slowly slide away into the archives as I'm sure people are getting sick of this thread :o

What type of business Al if you dont mind me asking

Dasdubber ·

No worries mate, I am an Audiologist (perform diagnostic hearing assessments and fit hearing aids and assistive listening devices). New company name is Pacific Hearing based at Helensvale (Westfield Shopping Centre), Gold Coast.

It will take a while to build up business but hopefully once its ticking along nicely (and once I sell this beetle) I can start the oval and/or splitty next.

Hey Alan,

I think you have done a bloody amazing job with that bug! Well done!
I think your business will be a great success if you put in as much effort into as your cars...and I think you will have a heap of customers in the future from the guys that have fully sic sound systems blarring!

Cheers!:beer

Spellbound ·

Great car Alan.... even better in the flesh :P

Now that I have put two and two together Im kicking myself for not saying G'day at the GC show. I spent ages looking over your car 😵

sgetty ·

im not usually a fan of late bugs but that does somthing for me! smooth as
the oval looks cool, go the beige :thumb
deon

Dasdubber ·

Cheers guys - thanks for the compliments.

I'm not usually a huge fan of late models either but I think the wide 5 wheels and early blade bumpers improve the aesthetics (in my opinion anyway!).

Thanks.

Dasdubber ·

I'm now open to offers - receipts for around $8000 are available which doesn't include much of the materials (paint etc) used....feel free to make a reasonable offer. I'd love to see it go to a good home soon!

Cheers
Alan

Dasdubber ·

So does anyone want a bargain? I'd love to hang onto this beetle but space and the new business (limited $) forces the sale sooner than later.

$9000 ono

Just posting in here so I can find this again. I will be putting this car for sale as I was the lucky buyer nearly 13 years ago.

And I can say yes the Rust Bullet works a treat, no rust on the vehicle at all, except for scratches etc caused by outside factors.

And all of Alans paint, panel and hard work is a credit to him as the vehicle is still in very good condition, still runs, drives, works fine.

Will be posting in Classifieds as soon as I work it out as I haven't posted in here for a very long time.
