Desert Moose ·

does anyone have a pic of the engine mount in the boot of an early type 3 ? the one under the engine hatch.

I'm trying to fit a later motor and looking to see if I can use it

Thanks

You can fit later engine in.Normally the fan housing has the round mounting pole screwed in otherwise just change the fan housing. You might have to machine out the bell housing to fit the 12 volt flywheel.

Yeah...the flywheel is no big deal. And I see that it would be just like a beetle and run only on the gearbox mount but its a lot of extra weight hanging off the back of the motor and with no support like the later model has, I was thinking of it breaking the front mount ? the fan housing does have a pole near the breather but I still need a photo to see how it works, as I don't have the mount

Cheers

moose if you are worried about it putting extra strain on the front mount why not run a transmission strap?

Don't worry what jace is saying Nick it just a stock car... and the stock mounts will do, as it only ever going to see road. Very one just thinks I'am making this an off roader.... but its more like a rod

could u not run a transmission strap on a street car for extra support for the heavier engine?
