Hot tank --> TriSodium Phosphate wtd

I am rebuilding the twin carbs on a 65 Notch, and I am wanting to build a hot tank so I can clean the parts.

I need to buy some TSP Trisodium Phosphate, and I was wondering if anyone knows where you can buy it from.

Thanks

Steve

As far as I know, TSP will corrode alot of metals, especially reactive ones like aluminium alloys. If you place alloy in a hot TSP solution it will darken considerable and start to corrode very quickly.

If all you want to do is clean carbs, I can recommend Nulon Carb & Throttle body cleaner. I used it on my fastys carbs and it cleaned off all the stains in minutes. It also cleans up just about anything else. It is a bit expensive at $12 a can, but it works really well and doesn't hurt aluminium.

I'll second the Nulon carb cleaner. That or CRC. They are pretty similar and it comes down to price really. I've been using these on various carbs for donkey's years.

The other good thing about the can jobs is they also flush jets and passages really well.

Nulon is the best and smells like bubble gum, that cheap carb cleaner is just awful. As for trisodium phosphate try ARDROX chemical company, located in Girraween NSW. We use their products to clean Gasturbine engine parts where i work, goes in black comes out shiny in less than 10 minutes. Cheers Damien.

Turbine parts, depending on which component are made from either titanium, nickel alloys, inconel, magnesium, aluminium, stainless steel, and the parts cost heaps eg, A magnesium reduction gear box case half can cost around $30000 and it is smaller than a type 1 crankcase, so don't ever buy an aircraft, cheers Damo.
