Hey Guys and Gals,

A preview of Issue#10 is now up on http://www.vwma.net.au

This issue hits the shelves May 5th. Slightly bigger this time at 100 pages. So many Volkswagen stories and only so many issues to squeeze them into, hence the implosion.

There are still some more classifieds to be posted in the next week or so.

The Nationals will be covered in the Valla special due out in August. I was home meeting the deadline for #10 over Easter, so I missed the Nats this year. Looked like another good show.

Cheers
Craig

Sorry, I didn't know I had to respond.

I thought I was being told, and that happens to me every other day anyways.

Rats in the pipeline (so to speak).

byronbus ·

haha, rats in the pipeline, thats funny

Cool, my car is on the cover, albiet in the corner 🙂

I am interested to see what is written about it as no-one contacted me to ask any questions about it :o

seagull ·

Taken from your web page I think mate

VWMA Editor ·

No, the shot was an original taken just after Dubs By The Pub, same day in fact. The car was set up in a similar fashion to Wes' web stuff, and shot by Andrew Seymour.

On a technical side (boring stuff really), web images can't be used for high res printing, especially on a cover.

And Wes, you had given me a lot of the info earlier, especially in regards to the engine transplant, which is where I focused much of the article on. I also looked at Baja's in general and highlighted aspects of the other vehicles in the shoot.

No worries, but I gave you those articles quite a while ago, and they are about 3 years old. There's been a few car mods since then. I guess I was expecting someone to contact me and ask a few questions, or maybe even proof read the article to ensure it's accurate.

If you've based it on the old articles then it probably isn't too far off, it probably just won't have anything about the climate control which is another advantage of an engine conversion. It also won't have any info on the type 181 thing front end.

Agree that we need Rats in there. Please don't overlook those who are thinking outside the square to make their rides stand out in different ways. Judging by the response to the rats on this forum, alot of people agree that rat is where it's at.:duh

VWFOOL ·

how can i contribute to the magazine, either with a story and/or photography?

VWMA Editor ·

Space being limited in the mag, I really only had room for the engine transplant details. As a follow-up for the next issue, we can certainly look at the 181 front end and the climate control. I knew of these, but I couldn't have done them justice if I tried to squeeze them in.

Attached is a pic of another story in this issue (#10) which is definitely outside the square. Although not a rat, it certainly has many unique custom features.

Potential contributors need to make contact via email - editor@vwma.net.au - and set out a rough idea of what they have in mind. Things happen from there.
