I’m searching for a good VW repairer/restorer in Brisbane. I’m an Aussie, and I currently live in Texas, USA. ( My wonderful Texan is taking me home in about 6 months! WOOOOHOOOO!)
Anyway, this is a story that might strike you as a bit odd, but here goes……. We just bought a Kombi….off Ebay…..it’s in Brisbane ( my son has just had it towed to my daughter’s in-laws place at greenbank ( I told you it was an odd tale LOL). It turns out that the kombi does not have a key ( though that is hopefully being resolved as I type). The motor is apparently blown ( we knew this when we bid), it’s in need of other repair/restoration. Unfortunately the daughter’s inlaws have now reneged on their offer to store this kombi at their place. So I’ve been surfing online, hoping to find someone who knows someone who could take on our kombi as a 6 month repair/restoration… for a very healthy remuneration…to be done and paid for in stages.
I came across this site (and thought what the heck!! I can only ask, and you can only say “No bloody way!”
So, there it is…a tale to relate to your fellow Vee Dubbers…a tale to laugh about.

last time i was at custom off road they did, and it sounded reasonably priced too.
while you're storing it there, you may as well get them to fix it all up for you too!

Yep, I've emailed Custom Offroad...waiting for a reply. I knew that Aussies, and more particularly, VW freaks, would be the place to ask.
I've been a Kombi fan since waaaay back in 1970....we had a twin cab ute....it took my family ( 7 all up) from Melbourne to Townsville....towing a trailer with half a ton of books! We all slept in the twin cab part....we made an annex to hook up to the twin cab bit, and made a heavy duty canvas canopy for the ute.
That trip got me hooked on VWs, and Kombis in particular.
I'm copping heaps from my son and daughter over buying this Kombi LOL. But we still reckon that it's gonna be worth it....we're prepared to spend about $3000 on it, and then we'll KNOW we have a good vehicle for when we arrive back in Oz. I'm still waiting for the details of year/model/motor size etc. ( I guess once my son stops ranting about the " piece of crap" he'll let me know LOL)
People really do see only what they wanna/expect to see.
