what is the large metal cylinder in the engine bay?.... is it some form of petrol-fueled heating unit like was fitted to Westy's and Campmobiles?

And also...out of curiosity, does the spare tyre mount swing downwards or sideways or something to that effect?... just wondering how one accesses the engine bay with the spre mounted behind the lid. 👍

Apoligies, I haven't been on the site for a while.

The large metal cyliner is a Donaldson Air Filter to allow greater cooling and cleaner airflow to the motor.

The spare tyre mount swings sidewards towards the passenger side of car allowing both hatches to be accessed. It also acts as a handy security device as when it's locked you can't open the back door or motor hatch.
