356 speedster replica.. had only for a few weeks.. and believe it or not.. Sold!

My latest run around.. 67, extractor exhaust system.. 1500.. wide 195s .. got bored during period 1&2 last week.. now has 2 12" competition orion subs, 2 400W pioneer 6x9s, 2 x 6" clarions.. and tweeters 🙂 running off 2 amps.. School just isnt as fun as cars is it ?

mkI 77 fully restored 1.8 kjet new interior big back brakes mkIII wheels and no rear proportioning valve = 30m of drift then a pole Lol! 🙂

Here's BC after I washed her and polished her up all nice a little over a week ago... it was an important moment, so I kinda went batty with the camera... capturing the cleanliness from as many angles and in as many lights as possible 😂... if you saw the bug-guts on the nose and oil spots all over the ass end merely a week later ya'd appreciate why it's so important for me to capture this moment! 🤓

Now here is BC when she was going through her rattypacker phase a month or two ago... thankfully she grew out of it within a few days. 👍

Here she is wearing a slightly more sensible hat... however she decided it wasnt hip anymore as of llast week, and was giving her a headache, so she no longer wears it. 🙂

This is mine, my old man got it from a auction about a year ago, came from victoria originaly and was pritty much the same as seen here, went over the pits first time 🙂 and runs great, its my first car and now im inlove with the vw. the work log is little, took all the interior and cleaned up the floor pan with a bit of kill rust and have just painted the rims, come summer its gettin rubbed down with a new coat of white, a tune up and if possible a new gear box but i aint much of a mechanic 🙁 but on the order list atm is a new horn ring, running boards, exhaust tips, sterio, mirror and antena. enjoy.

btw the pic's are huge so if u have a slow net connection, gl hf 😀

god damn...what a costly weekend for my beetle 🙁 have most likely blown the main seal, main bearing sounds like its gone & have lost 2 cylinders all on the way back from dubs....have to inspect everything when we pull the engine out...YAY my first engine rebuild...lol but such a bad reason for needing it...

well we were running abit late may i say...lol & we hammered pretty hard to get up there @ the time we did, then on the way back we just started losing oil...so a nice dubber stopped & lent us some oil...but the worst thing we could have probable tone was to get back on the road...I think that we might have only been running on three cylinders as one of our leads was a bit corroded (we thought we fixed it but obviouisly didnt) but when we got back on the road you could just feel the cylinder drop. Still not sure of the damage. Dont really have that much time to look @ the car at the moment as I am in Year 12 & trying to pass everything whilst make some money to spend on the beetle LOL. But we will get there.

My thinking is the original owners, or whoever did the original work to it wanted it to look more like a 911.
Hence the flared guards, Porsche mags and 911 wing mirrors

gerard now has some flattened ruby red sides,time to 1200 him allover then fit the fender beading(red) then get some front seats and give his wheels some nice glossy red centres

i have a 56 rag that im making euro and want to do right hand drive and i found this sight by luck.. and a 57 rag that im trading for the metal work on the 56 and a 56 hardtop for parts and a 59 ragtop thatim throwing together to drive as a beater

Hey Hey all!
Bought this beauty about a year ago for $700, as it didnt come with an engine or gearbox.
After tonnes of procrastination and a hell of allota work she is just about roadworthy for just over $4000!
Its a 1974 L-series Beetle geared with a 1600 twin port engine which has been well looked after...
Ive pimped it with some 'checkerboard' vinyl for the flooring with a matching pillow....
And whats a VW without fluffy dice...
For my first car... I'm Lovin' it lol =)

Hey guys, thought i should join everyone here so im a bit new to this site. Just turned 17 in December and would have my P's now but lost my licence for speeding 🙁.

This is my 72/74 Beetle, it is custom made of parts from both years and has some Mercedes parts (mainly power windows). Brand new stock 1600cc engine from Mexico, near new midnight black paint (poor job from the sprayer), Simmons mags (think i measured the width to be 13"), pretty awesome looking bodykit=== Real headturner =)
BTW: Manual, the shifter just makes it look Auto.

What do you guys think?

Only had it there for like three weeks and only been on the road twice. But went for pink slip other day and didnt pass cause of rust near jack point but the guy did mention it needs a light. but now it wont start so im not gunna get pulled up right away

my plans for him is liftin the back end, white walls, re spray the rims orange with white pinstripe, tidying up some interior, new badges and bumpers and roof racks!

it has a twin which is dropped a bit more but like tanned interior

your bugs colour scheme is pretty sick! more subtle which would be nice a lot of the time haha!
and mine lacks bumpers and good rims! which will come with time and money, ever considered roof racks?

Yo I'm Fifteen. I have owned six kombis. Recently sold a 75 and am now focusing completely on my 73 Double door. I have built up four engines and am doing my first Type 1 now. For my Panel. I must say the type 1's are much more simple. Heaps better to work on. My previous kombis were - 1972 Camper, 76 Dual Cab ute, 74 Camper, 73 Camper (Still have), 75 Camper and my current project 73 Double door.

My next project will hopefully be a beetle or a fasty.

This is my '62 with recently narrowed and lowered front end. Gonna lower it at the back a little bit next and fit new tyres (narrower and lower profile), might even add whitewalls. Runs great on a stock 1600.

Hi im Jerry. Bought this off ebay 3yrs ago now as a wreck when i just turned 15. Worked on it for around 18mnths untill i was finally able to do my learners hours in it. Its still my daily driver at 18. Its an old photo b4 i had painted the roll bar and gotten a canvas soft-top made. Seats are all re-upholstered in a bone colour with blue piping. Do have another one (a normal sedan) in pieces atm, it was originally bought as a donor car, but im currently restoring it aswell. Hoping to paint it two tone black and red

??? uncircumsized ? yea i dont like the elephant feet either, or the wide gaurds, but its wat came on it wen i bought it, so instead of spending more i left it. I prefer the original gaurds and light housings for that year, luckily my 2nd bug has the originals, so they are staying

Oh yea i lyk the gemini seats, i only found out last week that thats where they were from, i always knew the werent stock. Originally were white leather with a red piping as u can see in the photo here. This is how it was wen i first got it.

someone on the samba called them that and its just kinda stuck 😂

normally with elephants feet the lense bolts straight to the guard without the housing like yours has.
it was only south africa that did that, theyre abit more low budget there and wouldnt retool for the new guards to fit elephants feet.

Gemi seats are comfy as, well for seats that age anyway, one of mine came with them as well

looks like you've spent a few $$ on the retrim, looks good 👍

Yea i reckon aye, the seats are pretty sweet n comfy, look way better than the original highbacks, im gonna put low backs in this other dub tho.

Yea i just dont lyk the whole flared gaurds, they look cheap n shithouse in my opinion. Maybe better if they were just widened not flared. Bad choice by the person who had the car b4 me. N lyk i said, not a fan of the elephants feet, they're supposed to be on 73 onwards, not a 71.

Well hopefully ive learnt from this car n can make this 2nd one so much better...

Here's mine, not stricly a vee dub but a Formula vee is close enough? This is me at a Gippsland Car club hillclimb. Just finished a thorough 3 year resto in may this year. Anyway a 1979 Stag Hisoric Formula vee. LOADS OF FUN!!!!

& picked up a beetle that day, from what I learnt he owns 6 to 7 Beetles already and one has a crazy sound system in it.

Total restoration over time but for now just a clean-up and minor rust repair as a hole in the pan about the same size a a 5c coin at the most, but it is just about rust free and it was cheap too.

Cool as mate!
I'm on Brisbane southside and i stay at my uncles in Nambour every once and a while too!
Other option is to start a build thread in the members ride or buggies section and put heaps of photos there!
I've always found the forum as a good source of information and help on what i do!
