The white buggy I was told about several years ago.It was lying in the backyard on a property that was owned by a mechanic. It took me a while to track it down and after a few cold ice-breakers we came to an agreement. He told me he had bought the buggy body brand new from South Australia 20 years ago and brought it up to Queensland when he moved here. The body has not been touched or tampered with in any way and is brand new as if bought from the factory yesterday. The moss and licheon adding to the rat look which I paid no extra for.
The second buggy body I also found in a backyard when I was purchasing a 2lt Kombi motor. It was apparantly used for racing or competition as it has a full dash of 70/80 era gauges and other racing mods.It came complete but no motor including original hard top.
From looking at the photos of the Murry Car Show is this the same bodys as the black buggy pictured in the show. Please give me some feed if anyone can help in identifying these 2 buggy bodies, where they were made?who made them? and are they being made new today
cheers

wow.
poraga type front, 1303 type windscreen, full surround at rear.
most car like buggy i have seen for a bit.
not sure if its my style though..
bugbrained ·
wow pete thats the most unusual buggy ive ever seen in my life . whats the reason for it being cut in half . so it will go onto a full lengh chassis ?
Joel ·
wow what an odd ball
could look nice with some work
how hard would it be to re join the two halves safely?
i think thats a type 3 windscreen - definatley not LBug

always happy to be corrected.
its still a weird style...:alien

Well....looky looky here...this is a picture of my first buggy back in '86 down at the beach. As it is in the age pre digital all my pictures are the old style film and require scanning, when i find the pictures. I do see some similarities to the buggies above....fairly freeky really as I've been wondering what my first love child was for years...It used a type 3 windscreen which broke when i went through it...long story...

Hey pete.
Have seen recently a buggy like this on a LWB pan.
The buggy had funny little doors on it. Maybe thats whats missing from yours.?
Peter Albon ·
Thanks everyone for your comments.
The reason it was cut in half was because, the previous owner only had a 6x4 trailer, so he cut it in half to bring it home.
He tells me the owner before him sent the original chassis to the scrap yard (shame)!!
i really dont thing it had any doors, because the cuts match up perfectly.
it would be very easy to pout together safely i assume, because it bolts to a floor plan, yes??
At a bit of a loss of what to do with it!! Does any one have any sugesstions.
A special thanks to mick for posting my pix and sharing the pix of his 86 buggy.
Regards Pete

that buggy is hot!:P
what u mean what to do with it? how to connect it back together?
pete wood ·
THere seem to be a lot of buggy bodies without keen homes. Can some one please give one to Chris and put him out of his misery.

post it down to me 😀

Tech Question?
if i could get my hands on a vw convertible (busted one), that would mean the chassis would have all the stiffening etc!?
That way i probably could get arround having to get an engineers certificate,
and register it on my chassis of choice, to that years chassis australian design regulations (ADR)?
is this possible??
i understand the comment about buggies not going to good homes, however i have another fibreglass special and when i saw this
i thought it was quite unique, therfore i had to have it!

Yes i'm in misery. 🙁 Sux not being as kool at pete wood with his buggy 😂
Hmm, Peter Albon, i think your in a right move there. When it comes to chassis stiffening, but (i think) according to adrs with rebodied vehicles, u may need a roll bar. Usually that puts the stiffness in the chassis, well a bit anyways, and is legal enough. However, if u go the cabriot beetle chassis with a roll bar, u should be all good.
anyone else can give a bit betta, pro advice?
Peter Albon ·
Attention all!
i have realised i have way too many projects on the go, therefore regretfully, my weird little buggy is
For Sale!
Any Takers?

damn, i was hoping you were on the other side of the country so i wouldnt have to think about this. would love to have some fun with that thing but at the moment i dont even have the time or money to look after my own car/project 🙁
Peter Albon ·
Thats a shame!
i know what you mean about not having enough time to finish your own projects. They can be very time consuming.
Good luck with it.
