People, today has been the worst day for me this year, first i was drivin to work and then was almost taken out by a fuckwit(sorry had to swear) in a hilux who was late for work obviously, he just had to get in that gap that didn't exist and then he couldn't and in the process almost push me into the concrete divider on the highway, i just missed the barrier by a bee's dick. Then he got behind me so close it must of been less than 30cm from my rear window on my golf with high beams on, then he finally got by me and hurled abuse and gave the finger. What the #$%^ did i do to deserve this I was sittin on the speed limit, on me way to work, minding my own business. Isn't that what mobile phone's are for to ring ya boss and tell him you will be late and then you stay back after knockoff to make up the time? That's what i do. Then i get to work and i have to balance a turbine assy only to find out that the bloke who assembled it put the blades in the wrong order, which requires drilling out the old rivets and comlete dissasembly of the turbine disc, with the rivets being $8 eachx43=$344, then the lathe for machining another engine part wouldn't work due to electrics. Then i have someone sitting on me arse on the way home. You know it makes me think is it worth the effort to restore my beloved beetle, if people like this exist on the road everyday. I think it's about time to make EVERYONE do a defensive driving course, I've done one their very good and they open up your eyes to what you don't think about when you're driving, cause it is all just energy in motion, basic physics. So people just slow down you will get there on time and safely. Well that's enough whingin, take it easy, cheers Damo.

you know whats going on....which doesnt make it any less frustrating..... its good to hear common sense regarding things that frustrate the crap outta me as well.... the hardest part is to develop razor sharp senses, be super alert, and still somehow enjoy the ride...
take it easy...kudos mate

Damo,
On the road i am a very generous driver. I let everyone in. I figure i'm way happy to let them rush to the grave. Besides, the cargo i'm most often carrying is simply too priceless to palce in danger.
And I defineately live by this rule my mum taught me when i was learning to drive:
Better to arrive late, than dead on time.
Good luck and have a nicer day tomorrow
bajachris88 ·
tis y u should get a baja. Some nice front and rear bull bars in the noses of those close followers would look nice. 😀
I wonder myself. Why would u drive a valuable collectable on the road, and risk it being obliviated. no wonder many people leave split and oval beetles in the shed, and don't take em to shows. All a big risk.

Dude,
sometimes it just happens. All I can say is that at some point it happens to all of us, regardless of the car/time of day/place. All I can say is that you handled it better than me, and have a beer and relax a bit now you're home safe and sound.

drive slower 😀
The most frustrating thing i find when driving is people doing abnormal things, its really offsetting considering most drivers drive subconciously (bitching to self about the c++t on your bumper).
so just keep doing what ya doing and if they get real close chuck an indian cab driver, one foot on gas one on brake lol... certainly makes me think twice lol!
cheer up man, not the end of the world! :beer
bitemeoz ·
i know what you mean, its even worse when you don't have a horn, and you see that car creeping over. that makes you a pretty defensive driver.
PrettyBlueBug ·
Want to know a tip for when you're running late?
Don't look at a clock, watch or other timepiece AT ALL on the way there, and you'll arrive on time. :P
There are definitely some a-holes out there... love your comment beb: 'Better to arrive late, than dead on time.'

road rage can be a real worry
i must confess to being guilty of it a fair bit
quite a few unsuspecting drivers have found out the hard way if u endanger any of my dubs u'd better get far far away from me :cussing

I got so sick of the drive to work, I get a lift now and sleep in the car as a passenger.

not worth getting frustrated over man - cant change others, only yourself...
and keep the resto going! am keen as to see that bad boy on the road - is going to be another sick brisbane resto hehe (thats right - go qld, go the maroons!)

My dad told me when I was learning to believe every other driver on the road is a nut case and watch out for them. That's proved itself time and time again to be right. I'm now teaching my son the same thing. We had a similar occurance to 66deluxe last week taking our sons to soccer where an idiot overtook on the inside as we were just about overtaking a car towing a caravan. The idiot swerved between us and the caravan at 100kph with less than a foot from our front bumper!!
66deluxe ·
The thing that really did my head in was the fact that i had only been awake for about half an hour of a new day on this beautiful planet.

i live on a major hwy in brissy ,tailgatting passing up the left hand side overtaking when theres oncoming traffic its a nightmare at times . i can remember once being bumped from behind because this clown was in a hurry even though i was doing the speed limit . i followed the turkey home as my wife phoned the police , he parked his car in his carport quickly locked it and ran into the house like a big girl . i casually walked to his front door and knocked so hard his front windows shook . i looked back and the little misses was giving me the come here signal , she said she told the police what had happened and i was being the aggressor because i had followed him home . if looks could kill its bloody idiots like this that make driving a hazard . :bounce

hey yeah i have those style of days today was one of them as well.. oh well.. thank god for a bottle of red and pasta on the boil.. hmmm the good things in life are the simplest..!
re: the def driving course: great idea..
i used to drive earthmoving equipment and a truck to float the excavator around, you learn real quick of how to avoid morons on the road who continually cut in front of 20t rumbling down the road and expect you stop as they do one a dime..
not gunna happen ppl..
pls leave plenty of room for bigger vehicles as they need more braking space..
also 'LOOK' out for motor bikes as i always move over n let em pass.. cause you know they will anyway, so you may as well let ride by with plenty of room, you'd be surprised they always :thumb or waves thanks.. try it.. better than hurting/killing the rider due to stupidity and living with it for the rest of your life.. :o

toyota hilux --- unbreakable. --> toyota hilux drivers --- unbrainable. 👎
The world is full of selfish people. The thing is that people think that it's the other guy who's being selfish all the time. Work that one out eh?:o

I am sure that whenever I drive my kombi people are alway cutting me off or are pulling out infront of me.
Its like theirs a big sign on the front of the car saying "Please cut me off" some days its really bad.
Stay safe people 😘kiss

nah... bullbars dont help... people look up, acknowledge me, then shoot out in front as though "kombi's are slow... so even though it's doing 80kmh... its ok... cos kombi's are slow" :duh
i've had a bady day today... but it wasn't on the road, said hello to a friend who snapped at me and said i was a prick?!... laptops battery was flat, got the wrong version of photoshop off a friend, starter motor played up in the van, went all the way to the shops only to find they didnt have what they said they did, was looking for my juggling balls and smashed my finger in a drawer, had some stupid foxtel twit come round for the second time this week, and while i was explaining that she was never to come to my house again my sisters dogs ran off down the street, so i had to chase them, then sat down for a beer and spilled it on myself, and now ive only just got the computer going cos the modem wouldnt work....
... i wanna go to bed!!! :alien

When we had our kombi we had people just had to overtake no matter what, we'd be travelling down the Bruce at around 110 kph and for some unknown reason some drivers couldn't stand having a kombi overtake them so they'd go on a kind of suicide mission to get in front!! Now I don.t know the significance of this but I did notice the majority drove Volvos that had little fish motifs on the back?

What is it with volvo drivers who love fishing?
Maybe they were drunk from all that time in the boat.:P
BUt seriously, I've had my car covered in oil from driving behind kombis, so I sort of understand why people want to get past. And you have to admit, kombis are not rocketships. Still, that's no excuse for rudeness.
BTW, if you wanna get cut off seriously, take your pushbike out on a main road. It's a wonder more cyclists don't carry semi-automatics. :o

A teabag in the pocket? Is that a usual accessory that carry around with you? :P
squizy ·
Just give them a wave and a smile as they go belting past. Pisses them off even more, especially when you pull up next to them at the next traffic lights.

i agree, i always wanted to set up a little slingshot contraption on the front of my pushy so i could make nice little dints in the paintwork/windows of rude drivers that dont know road rules...
to all those who are having or have recently had bad days....
*HUUUUUUUUUUGS* with cookies and chocolate milk. 😀😀😀
(or in fekkinell's case... tea)

It's not an accessory... it's a necessity... and i think it was peppermint tea 😉
