Here again tonight, admidst the lights and colours of beautiful Brisneyland. I'm actually stuck in a small, secure room in the centre of the building, surrounded by 18 PC monitors, 2 security camera screens, and a TV, without even a window to the outside world. 🤪
Only three to go until I get a couple of days off in a row, which hasn't happened for more than 4 weeks!

I actually had some work to do for a few hours there ..mostly wiring up the new LED taillights for my Sabre 😁
My availability is 24/7/365. There is a roster system, but it's highly variable because of the nature of the work.
I work for QLD Rail in Computer Operations. I'm part of the team that monitors the data processing centers' server farm and IBM mainframe. Basically we maintain the QR national user network - read we don't control the trains.
But the damn machines are so reliable now that mostly there is very little to do during night shifts, though when the Mistral meets the faeces, things can get quite interesting. A major system failure (or an Unscheduled Outage - love that phrase!) will have a team of support staff here in 15 mins, and techs within the hour.

I woke up late (6.45am) and got to work 15 minutes late so bad start there, then I whacked my nose with a 9/16" spanner coz it slipped off a friggen seized bolt... Stupid Scania's.

Working on an LED lighting kit for my mates new bike. Honda CBR1100 XX Super Blackbird in, of course, Black!
Putting some HI reds inside the fairing at strategic positions, as well as some UV's down near the calipers with purple UV reactive paint on the rotor centres. Should look AWESOME at night.

I really am most fond of the early stuff however... Monty Python's Flying Circus, Farty Towels, Are You Being Served?, Some Mums Do Ave Em, Dad's Army, Not The 9 o'clock News to name but a few hehehe 😂
The inuendo they got away with in the 70's is nothing short of amazing! hehe
What sets them apart from modern comedies I believe is that altho they are often very naughty indeed... the humour is very tastefully written and performed... rather than being coarse and smutty like the crap in modern American-influenced television and film...
Good clean entertainment that the kids can enjoy on face value without picking anything up they shouldnt, whilst still having enough naughty inuendo to keep it intersting for the adult audience. But not so naughty as to make one question their integrity at finding it funny... 👍
most modern comedians and comedies (Rove McManus, I'm looking at you :o), simply arent funny...

Yep we had some great stuff made on our own soil... like Auntie Jack, 96, Comedy Company, Fast Forward, Hey Dad, Kingswood Country and its successor, Bullpit etc... very good stuff! 👍😂
Characters like Ted Bullpit and Colin Carpenter and Auntie Jack really stick in your mind and win your heart! 😘
It seems tho that come the mid-90's we lost all that wholesome entertainment and started to bend to the septic influence... which it seems has now all but engulfed our television industry. 🙁
That said... that new show about the guy named Earl... it is indeed very funny! 👍

Yep...because such trash is no longer considered immorral and socially unacceptable as it would have been 15 years or so ago... and it seems in these times... people around my age and younger have been conditioned to take whatever rubbish is fed to them by society... all a company needs to do is convince the kids that something is trendy and BOOM! Profits soar!
The only way to counter such degenration of society is to ban all this crap outright... but that will never happen. :o
And yes Judy, I second the cop and investigtion and forensics type shows... very wholesome watching!.... CSI has been a favourite for a long time, and I used to enjoy NYPD Blue and rather like Law and Order in its numerous forms. I love Cold Case cos of all the old music tthey play... and also cos it is a well made show! 😀😂
Im afraid CSI:NY hasnt really done anything for me tho... and NCIS was effectively ruined due to my teenybopping 15 year old sister flogging it to death! 🙁

The way i figure it is, the later i stay up, the longer i sleep in, and the less time i have to spend awake with the inlaws, the less likely i am to bang their heads together!!! (I live with my BF at his parents.. but he gets to go to work every day)

work in a polymerization plant convert gas to a polymer powder then granulate it.12 hour shifts 4 on 5 off.been doing it for 17 years this year before that panel beater.

12 hour shifts were abolished for us after one operator had a fairly serious car accident when he fell asleep on the way home in the morning.
I'm not sorry to see them go. I've been doing this for 5 years and before that roadworks labourer/machinery operator.
Hope you get a break soon, I'm off for three whole days now (well, including today).

we do 2 ,12 days 0700 to 1900 then 2 ,12 nights 1900 to 0700 then 5 days off but 1 shift 2 days 1night 5 off 1 day 2 nights and so on I hate straight day shifts on our roster we work 157 days a year plus call ins

Nice! Our roster rotates over 5 weeks, but due to training commitments and upgrade projects it's never really set too fast.
We work 38hr weeks except for fairly regular call-ins/overtime.

our roster is a 5 week cycle but 35 hour week theres a utility day thrown in 7 hour day to make up the 35 hour week and 5 weeks anual leave ,but in 12 months we have gone from 13 a shift to 6 and we are owned by chemchina part private & part chinnese gov
