62ragtop ·
not imparticularly anything, i am in the process of repainting my car. So, rubbers, accesaries, performance parts and so on. Any shop like that there?
62deluxe ·
We don't have a shop front as such (not a big enough scene/spenders here to justify) but we do carry a range of rubbers, wheels, accessories etc plus heaps of secondhand and NOS parts.
62deluxe ·
That jesus bloke looks a bit odd eh?

Ahh, thinking hard about this one???? Where do you normally go and get your notch fixed or bits??? Even have nine registered VW specialist businesses in the state, the locals must have trouble seeing the forest for the trees.

Same old same old.....
Money talks kids!
Well said Rag!🙄

Fair point handy cam, put do you see the goods that you order from mainland stores before they arrive in tas?
What sort of people are going to keep everything in stock in the state, when most people only use the locals when the big shops either cant be bothered with them ,or the parts are obsure and hard to find.
Some particular vw outlets in this state have more parts than most of you would realise, not only new but second hand. If people viewed the second hand stock available, fair dinkum you would shit your pants for want of another description. These areas are off limits to all but the owners of such stock, if you dont ask you dont get.
What about that lovely old 60 model bug you are driving to Valla? I think that was sourced from local vw businesses wasnt it? That wasnt the first or the last. If you dont get a good car to start with, there is nothing to put all the bits in the world on.
There is more angles to VW businesses than a wall full of crappy Tiawanese empi products. Some are into getting old volksies back on the road, and that is what many local guys do. Yeh there is a market and a need for the above mentioned stuff, but there isnt much point every shop in the country stocking the same shit. I have many mainland fellas come and chat and try to source hard to find bits for restos, not all parts belong on expensive shop shelves for the masses.
Thats my angle anyway, no anger, not pissed, just stating the obvious from my point of view.
62deluxe ·
Thanks Ragman, well said I say. I'd have said something pretty much the same only I'm too lazy and too slow to type it all!!!!🤪
Drowning in NOS and secondhand I say!🤪
62ragtop ·
I hope i did not started something here........but anyway, 62deluxe you still haven't tell me where to go man......❓

fair anuff ive helped many people with hard 2 get bits from mainland even given them stuff 4 free if its no good 2 me as second hand stuff u may have nos what ever " but if the man wants 2 come look at vw stuff on the shelf so 2 speek he beter off in melbourne thats my opinion" anyway 62ragtop mate u have my u2u have a good trip if i dont here from u just trying 2 help:thumb:thumb

hey dude... the only place i know of so far is "volks imports" in invermay, launceston. they're more of a mechanical service but they do have a fair range of parts out the back etc. if you ask. depends on what your looking for i suppose. but appart from that, i havent found an actual store that has on the shelf parts etc etc.
Sorry, when someone says "shop" i think of a place you can walk in off the street, with shelves full of VW parts.. where you can just browse and then take stuff to a cash register.
Sure, we have BUSINESSES (and damn good ones too) but we don't have a shop, not somewhere where anyone can just walk in and have a browse... window shop as such..
Thats what i meant, didn't mean to offend!
BUT, i think what the guy was originally looking for was somewhere where he could just go and have a looky see...
62deluxe ·
People just "looky seeing" is the whole problem.
Who could afford to open a shopfront when people only want to come looky?
No one is offended I just think locals need some perspective here....
If people seriously want something we (and others) do our very best to get it at the best price we can.
62ragtop, just u2u me or call either of the mobile listed below and we'd gladly catch up and talk VWs etc etc
jo_tas ·
Yeah, well i'd be buying alot of stuff through you guys if i could find a job in this shit hole of a state.
jo_tas ·
And maybe what you guys need to realise, is that people that go to "looky see" have friends who are also into veedubs, so even though they may just be looking, when they have money, they're more likely to know where they want to go, especially if the people in that shop were nice to them, and welcoming.
Its the whole attitude of "if you don't have money we don't want to know you" which too many businesses have which annoys me in tasmania. sure, you're running a business, not a charity, but the point is that you need people to want to spend money there, not feel like they have to spend money there cause they don't have a choice. you need to make them like you!
I'm not saying this is what you guys do, far from it, but its just the general feeling i get from alot of businesses, which really bugs me.
Sure, i don't have any money, and don't buy much, but i still like to know what i'm doing when i do have a job.
Its very hard to indulge in a hobby that you have no money to spend on.. its been like that for me for the last six months, and its really getting to me. So i guess hence this little rant.
Ok, i've got it out of my system now. I would say i feel better but i won't until i have money to get the rust fixed... new rims... new rubbers... new paint... for my poor little negelected notch.
:blah:blah:blah:blah:blah
:duh

haha...
yes, we all think ur a bit touched in tassie...but nothing to do with ur vw businesses....it more the two heads and lusting after some strangely dressed sheep. plus the thing about marrying ur sister...😂
and im NOT sharing any of my cookies...
ps: the businesses up here are the same...u dont generally get to 'browse' but i do get to ask alot of stupid questions...
things like...'hey mick...u know this thingy...the bit that goes there...its looks kinda strange to me..."
he answers "bring it in'...always..he says....drop by, bring it in...let me see....I dont fink i make much sense to him (or anyone else)
and mick hasnt thrown me out....yet!
ANd just think jo...u wouldnt want to buy the stock on display...the stuff peoples can touch...who knows who drooled on it before u did!
jo_tas ·
Haha... good point!
62ragtop ·
Hey guys, everyone is entitle to their view but i genarally think that VW people are good people. I cannot count how many people has help me in my stupid never ending money spending friends laughing girlfriend angry....etc etc... hobby. Of course, not everyone can afford it but they have to start somewhere right? when i was studying, all i did was asking and browsing as i don't have much money but i still have a lot of people entertaining me and encouraging me. Or else i would have said, fxxk this its too hard. Just buy a jap car and get over it. Now that i am a working class, i do spend my money but more carefully. Money is not easy to earn these days and where do i find help? HERE!!!!
I have just receive a long e-mail from andrew that explain to me about type 4 engines, pros and cons and how to do it. For someone to spend time and do that for a stranger, it has to be some sort of connection, rite? I really appreciate your letter Andrew, thanks mate!
So what's the connection? VWssss!!!
A lot of people got burn in this scene and i have been through all these and wise up. But dont forget that people are in business to make money as well, not to just talk and spend time without making a living. BUT IT HAS TO BE REASONABLE!
All i was asking is if there are any where i can go in TAS to visit a shop and see and buy some unnecessary shit for my never ending project just to see how is VW doing in TAS. So far there has been a few people offering me help and to catch up and talk VW shit to me, a stranger! So, guys, be nice......
I hope i dont piss anyone off.........
handycam ·
all good 62ragtop all people in post are good people justthink its been a big miss understnding:thumb

This is the problem with any internet based conversation (email/forums etc) - sometimes what is typed can be taken the wrong way.
We just have to remember we come to use the forum for fun. 😵
bugeyedbabe ·
oh i hope no one took what i said the wrong way...
was just pointing out in the car industry very few groiups have their stuff on display to touch and feel...well..maybe autobarn and supercheap types....but not the vw shops i go to.
BUT, i'd rather go to a vw shop where someone knows what the 'thingy' is that im talking about...and can tell me its real name. What it does...and how I shouldnt be driving without it connected. 😊
Or why there is petrol all over the inside boot of the car...hand me a spanner, and tell me to fix it before i leave while he continues to serve.....poking his head out every so often giving me directions on how to do it right.
And like i said, no matter how dopey I sound...mick hasnt thrown me out or asked me to use the 'thingy (door) behind me to leave the area im standing in...(notice how i like mick...he made my car stop when i wanted it to....such a good thing to have...braking is so underrated....😁)
anyway...i think vw shops rock. and i doubt tassie shops are to much different to those in qld....i know mick kept his doors open for me a little longer cause i was running late and my problem was a tad urgent.
far better than the super cheaps...i only use them for the toyotas....they are the 'abuse' cars :kiss
VWS ROCK!!!
62deluxe ·
Thanks bugbabe well said. We all try to do the best we can.
Who really wants to look at walls full of nasty repro stuff anyway?
Any time any of you are down south you're more than welcome to drop by and look at what we do have and talk dubs........:beer:beer:beer

Back from Tassie!!! Beautiful place over there but a bit too cold, next time i go there during SUMMER with my bitch(VW)!!
Saw a few VW there, there is one black beetle with a lot of stickers on it but i cannot see whats on it as a passenger behind a car. A few kombis hanging around as well.
