1) Thee free 1966 delux I got was sitting for two years with out being started
Put a battery on it hit the key
( it started up in a second or two )
2)The motor was farting a bit
so I had a 3/4 of a can of coke some one did not drink in the shed
so I pored it all down the cabi when holding the throttel open at max revs !
( motor now revs like a two stroke motor bike )
3) The boots are stuffed on the swing axel box , & there is no oil in the gear box
( drove it down the road its very quiet )

Neil,
after pouring 3/4 can of sugar down the throat of a carburetor...
You are lucky its still going at all....
In the olden days.... bad people used to put some sugar into the fuel tank of a car belonging to someone they didn't like, and when it went thru the engine
the engine would stop.....
and the carburetor had to be stripped down because of it... sometimes the whole engine....
and You have done it to a 40 year old car....
and thats what You will have to do...:o:o:o
Coke should only be used what it was meant for....

well i went out side and hit the key at 6.30 am the motor runs very sweet .I am going to do some burnouts with it when I get home Lee & try and blow the crank out the bottom
I have 20 ltrs of race fuel there so I throw that in the tank .
To the burn out pad we go !
gull ·
O next week the super charger will be here so I should hold off for that & bolt that on
bond ·
haha - suckered into this thread! all lies!!!
seriously though - the purpose of the coke lay in its acidity? or what exactly?
nick
Volkswagenboy ·
Aparently some people do this to 'clean' there engine out before disassembly, not too sure how true it is though.

The motor was full of carbon so I gave it a deglase .The coke was near by & the water was far so used the coke ( save water )
the motor is running very good now
I have a Judson on the way & will bolt it on just to see if it works .then removed it .
Now to lay the slabs for the burn out
Lee I have put 4 kgs in of sugar in a fuel tank before & the XM ford ran just fine
bus914 ·
some lout stole my fuel cap and poured coke into the tank and all around the filler. it ran very noticeably better afterwards, but i'd still be too chicken to do it on purpose for what i've heard about sugar in fuel tanks.😂
maybe this is the great conspiracy that car manufacturers are protecting.😂

the sugar trick is nasty, but once to give some shit to someone who deserved it I took a bag of sugar to the marina where this guy kept his 500k motor boat and poured sugar around the fuel filler not actually in it and left the bag for him to find...he found it allright and spent thousands to have the tank drained and cleaned only to find no sugar in it HAHA ...

I will be crimping of the rear brake lines after the fist test run , only some was from the clutch
I am only 3 & 5
Joel ·
must depend on the type of engine as to whether the sugar trick works
ive seen an engine once that had a full 1.5KG sugar pack in the tank and the pistons couldnt be knocked out of the block even with a sledge hammer they were so well siezed in there
i know from experience that water works wonders in an engine when used in the right method
basically steam cleans the engines insides
i wont say how coz it would be easy to muff up

Those myth buster blokes on the teev tried the sugar bit, didn't do a damned thing. BUSTED
kombi_kid ·
what about bundy and coke in the fuel tank? surely that would make it run freakin unreal it makes me run unreal thats for sure!!
cheers

Notch Nut ·
It won't be long before bundy and coke is cheaper than petrol at this rate!!! Damn car gets the *good stuff* and I can only afford to sniff this damn optimax rubbish. Wasn't the real reason behind the Iraq war to get cheap petrol? John Howard should have invaded Queensland and got us all some cheap bundy instead! Now there is a cause worth fighting for!!

Yep ,agree with this statement. I do absolutely bugger all maintenance on my hillclimb car, let it sit out in the rain, never charge the battery etc etc and it never has a prob. Yet others I race with religiously maintain and 'pamper' their car and it always plays up !!!:jesus
