id say a bad earth some where in the system mate
bajachris88 ·
Ahuh. I have played alot with that. As Barls said, for me it was a case of a bad earth. New later something was going on, cause i also blew a fuse. Whether it was for that, or me playing with something else, but have had it all go like that at once. Its annoying. Have one of em on, and wiggle things around and see if they turn on/off etc (as a quick look to know its something like that), if its gonna be harder for ya, then it will be somewhere else then under the bonnet. but i wouldn't think so.
Listen out for sparks :P

many thanks to you both:jesus

did you find it?

no still looking, am thinking it could be that i changed one of the globes in the front and now high beam on the nod.
and when wiper motors go do you loose the fast speed first then slows to a stop??

Got to be a earth problem especially if the car is 6 Volts
Make sure you have the better quality ceramic fuses in the fuse box the plastic ones are crap.
also turn them when in place in the fuse box so they make good contact

Yes,
All copper connections get contaminated over the years,
and fuses don't have a good connection..
even though the fuse hasn't blown doesn't mean the item connected to it is faulty...
Sounds like You have two speed wipers...
The things You mentioned are isolated pretty well...
Headlamp High Beam - Wipers and number plate lamp...
I doubt if all have failed at the same time...
unless You are very unlucky....
Check the bulbs in headlamp and number plate lamp...
after cleaning the copper strips the fuses click into...
A small wire brush or Wet & dry paper etc.. will do...
take a terminal off the battery first....
before attempting to clean the fuses...
All copper surfaces should be nice and shiney....
clean the ends of fuses too... old fuses can be contaminated too... I've seen some terrible fuses... I didn't think they would get corrosion on them, but I've seen some...
Make sure You have no loose wires anywhere....

Your wipers are dying too? Mine just did that, fast speed went completely and slow speed was pitiful. When I had my Bug serviced last, got the mechanic to have a look.... just needed some grease on the wiper bits and it was also rubbing a little bit against my stereo. Now my wipers are awesome at slow speed and like lightning on high! :P

Pretty_Blue_Bug you were spot on with the grease it worked a treat you da man or girl.
fixed the number plate light and it looks like it's the high beam relay thats gone so should have it fixed soon.
again thanks for your help
