in the last week or so my clutch has developed a nasty habit of engaging very suddenly with a bit of a clunk.
this only seems to happen if i reverse or take off not when im driving along and shift gears.
any ideas?

stuffed engine mounts

do you know if its a solid disk or it has the springs in built?
because if it has the springs which are designed to help take up some of the pre load to allow a smooth engagement which isnt really a problem when the car is in motion only when initially taking off.
i hope this helps explain what im talking about

solid disc barls
my engine mounts are still good damien.
or can looks be deceiving?

nah they're rooted everywhere if the springs are broke

enough bend in the tube between the clutch lever and chassis?
someone else had the support for this tube broken at the gearbox end in another thread with similar provblems. some are made from steel, some cast as part of the diff side plate
movement in the cable tube within the chassis can give inconsistent engagement and feel- fixing that SUCKS!

standard or poly?
Anthiron ·
standard.
was thinking about solid mounting it....might be a good time to do so.
ill check the bowden tube etc on the morrow

they can look o.k but if the steel plate has "detached" from the rubber they don't work too well.
man you're having a bad run, you must use that sucker
Anthiron ·
tell me about it.
ive got a bent axle too.....though im pretty sure its been like that since i bought it ive just never proved my theory untill now.

sounds like the cable is catching somewhere

Pressure plate maybe?

my bowden tube doesnt appear to have much of a bent and sits kind of loose.
