I have a 72 superbug that I am restoring. I want to get the front disc rotors machined as they are tired but they look fairly thin. What is the minimum thickness?. Also I have a set of 14" CSA mags to fit. The rear is Ok but the front wont fit due to the tin plate that directs air on to the discs. Can I remove these or modify them so they will fit?. Thanks

8.5 mm minimum thickness after machining
8.0 mm scrap thickness

you should be able to modify the plate

if u spin the wheels by hand when on the car is there interferance?
most 14" rims will fit with a very small gap round the splash gaurd
they can be taken off they as dont do a whole lot
when i run 14" mags on my 74 superbug when i hit a big bump i can hear the splash gaurds rattle abit but they dont seem to rub badly
it might be that ur wheels arent centering properly
those old square lugs on ROH and CSA (hotwires, globes etc) wheels from the 70s and 80s never center real well coz of the crappy lug design

no it appears to be touching the inside of the rim most of the way around. I will either remove them on make the diammeter smaller. 72 super at work. chadmyster at home if you are now confused.

Hi

If you want to keep splash guards, I think 1500 Beetle ones would fit and they are much sliimmer, they are useful in wet weather to keep your rotors dry.
