You can buy the same ribbed pattern rubber from clark rubber. It comes on a roll and you buy by the metre, looks wide enough (around 6 inches) to trim to size . Glue it on with a marine grade rubber glue. Then you will have the original look (with shiny bits) and no rust.
Where did you get the aluminium running boards and what are they worth?

I got these off V Force
It was his last set from selling them at the Nationals. cant remember what he was selling them there at - but i know it was a lot cheaper than the pre painted ones

spray or powdercoat the lot then polish the top faces of the ribs, same as they do on rims, would look awesome :thumb

i'm with BBCK. coat and polish the details. but make sure it's powdercoat, black paint will just wear off.

My problem here is the guy that can do my powder coating is apparently all or nothing.
Dunno why - but he says you cant msk it.
What about an etch primer.
it is down in the grooves - so i cant see why it would peel??

doesnt matter, get it all done then polish the coating back off the ribs, thats the easiest way to do it, sand 'til you hit metal then polish 😎

Yeah, polished ribs would look sweet as! 😁

I think it might look good for a while but while powdercoating is quite strong, if bits of it are polished off it's going to weaken the rest of the paint. Running boards are also exposed to rubbing whenever you get in and out of the car so more wear on the paint will occur. If it was a show only car then it would look cool, but it might turn out ratty on a daily driver after a while. My opinion only.

like the other guy said.powder coat it then get a rubbing block with 1500 grit paper, rub it back with the paper in water then if you want it to last scotch brite the lot n clear it....BAMM! long lasting freshness it would suit those wheels nice.that my oppinion
