Above 160 (the limit of my speedo) I use the tacho to judge road speed with my 1916.

Surely you figured that out already?

You need to get a standard km/h speedo re-cal'd and re-faced. Pacific instruments in Pymble, Sydney can do, but it might be cheaper to cut another dash hole, fill it with a 'self-calibrating' VDO or Auto Meter unit and put a big tacho (914) in the speedo hole

Howard instruments can rebuild your sp[eedo and re calibrate it to whatever you want. I had mine done for a super to 200kph and whitefaced, new needle, glass, etc. It cost me about $160 but that was 8 years ago. They are based in Melbourne, Literaly across the road for VDO Australia.

Cheers.

That's a good price; even if it is over 200 in today's $ . Do you know if they can calibrate from a non-standard tyre size

i gave howard instruments my thousand dollar falcon sprint tacho they had it for a year to rebuild it and finally said they couldnt get parts for it as they couldnt find the manufacturer of it ,i went in to the store as it was in pieces i noticed a watermark with the manufactures marking and said whats this then turns out they were still in existence and were one of there main suppliers .and thats what these knobs do for a living 🤓

Just noticed in the latest Ultra VW that I've got, the orange 10 second street car on the cover has an Autometer 160 MPH speedo in the dash that looks about the same size as the original. Maybe they would do an equivalent in KPH, that's gotta be about 240 KPH:o
Or graft in a subie dash to go with the motor👍

I have a 220km speedo for my car from Peter.
You need to send him a km speedo as that price is for just having it coverted. They then do it to your tyre size.
