Well Stacy B,
You have asked a very big question there....
type 1s are all Beetles... from 1945 until 1978 German made Beetles.
Beetles were also made in Australia, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico... and assembled in Many other Countries.
Beetles were made in Mexico until a couple of years ago..
The reason they stopped... The Mexican government passed a Law stating that all taxis had to have 4 doors...
Most Taxis in Mexico were Beetles....
The type 2s are Kombis... Vans, Utes and Buses...
I will have to look up some books to find the years these were made.... early fifties... to late 70s... roughly
Type 3s are the other Volkswagens....
there was a Fastback, halfback [also called Notchback]
and the Variant [station wagen]...
These were produced from early 60s until 1973...
again I would have to look in My books...
I hope this unravels the mystery of type 1-2-3s...Stacy..
Here is a pic of the type V30 VW [kdf-wagen] 30 were made... in 1937...
