On the off chance that anyone has one, i am looking for a '71 Type 3 indicator switch, apparantly THESE ARE ONE YEAR ONLY!! (apparantly)
It must have the plastic holder for the wires to run them down the column, and the copper horn contact peice!

Please help... with what i have on there at the moment, i have no horn!

Oh, and i'll add that the later type does not fit! The one that i want just has the indicators, dimmer and horn.. I know the later ones had something extra on them (windscreen wipers?) and they won't fit... i've tried!

So you're donating some money to get me there then?? :P

i dont reckon we can get new ones down here. you'd have to send away...and i think they're about $90...if someone can clarify that...but like i said, i think i have one.

Ok, so is the switch here or in Sydney?? Sorry i'm a bit confused :o

you are 3rd in line for mine. I'll let you know if it's available in the next couple days, Jo. Cheers!

PurpleT3 ·

Jo, call Mick for a new one. Postage on something that size will only be around $8. Most of the second hand ones around will be in similar condition to yours, I reckon you'd be lucky to find one which has everything working properly. And they are around the $90 mark, all other years are about half that.

Well if thats the case its just going to have to wait 🙁

You can use the type without the plastic holder, my manx has a type 3 column(plastic holder type) and when the switch died I changed over the the beetle type.

You can solder the horn contact to repair it

The horn contact isn't what's broken... its the indicator system.. its lost its "click" so it just flops about... LOL.. that sounds dodgy!!

mackaymanx ·

I understand, had to replace alot of switches over the years.Made a mistake with the beetle switch, may not work with a standard type 3

jo_tas ·

I have a beetle one in there at the moment, which i bought new.. it has everything except for the copper horn contact!

I don't know what you mean by "the plastic holder for the wires to run them down the column" but the one I have only has horn/dipper/indicators and the copper contact is OK. The wires connect via a 1/2 moon shaped plug at the bottom of the column.

If you want to look I'm in West Hobart which is closer than Valla!

U2U me if you think what I've described is what you're after.

mackaymanx ·

This is a sbug switch but it has the plastic guide
