i have a type3 1965 notchback 1500S with a problem gearbox. i was driving along, and all ws well, then i shifted into 2nd to take a corner and when i let the cluch out it felt like there was nothing there. i got it home and put it up and the clutch line is right, the amount of play is right, and the arm which the clutch cable is atatched to on the gearbox move the corect amout to disengage it.
Aparently the spline can get rusty and make things stick?
Sorry, new to VW.
will be taking it to a common trany place thisorvo.
thanks a tone for any help

First piece of advice is never take a classic VW to a non VW specialist. Take it to a specialust VW mechanic, at least they know what they are looking for and have half a chance of having the right spares in stock.
Any chance you could pull the engine out yourself? It's alot easier than you might think and most clutch problems can be worked out just by looking at it.

Years ago I had a sim prob on a 40hp. The splines on the main shaft were slightly burred over (PO siezed it???). It took about an hour with a triangular section file to rub out the daggy bits. Only happens on shafts with very fine splines like VW.
