Could someone with experience in doing this give me a short run down on what to do. Dont want any breakages.

I have the chrome inserts in the rubbers and want to replace it the same way.

Thanks.

1st break the seal by running a butter knife or similar tool around the inside rubber & window frame.
sit back in the seat and with your foot push on the glass and have someone roll the rubber lip on the inside out.
thats how we done it in the panel shop.
the way Iremoved my oval,s glass I cut the rubber soI didn,t break the glass youcould try that if you have new rudders .

One of the rubbers (rear) looks really good and still soft where the front is just starting to crack on the corners and a bit harder. They are still fine to be in there for years, its just that I will be respraying car at some time near future.

If they can come out in one piece I can then assess if they can be reused and then buy new ones if needed.

If there are any cracks in the original it should be replaced.

Front screen is laminated glass usually, and will crack very easily if bent. If replacing the rubber anyway, you can just cut the rubber and the glass will come out without any forcing.

nothing worse than a resprayed car and old rubbers they stand out.most cars I,ve resprayed for people I get them to replace rubbers it looks better.

Most type 3s do not have laminated glass on the front. Have a look at the ID stamp on the glass. It will tell you there one way or another. The laminated ones do seem to be a bit on the odd shape and don't seem to fit near the same as the old toughened ones. If the rubber is soft then just lift the inside lip all around and push the glass out as above post suggests. Otherwise cut the inside lip and replace rubber with new ones.

Once again, I'll be one praying for no flying stones on the run to and back from Nambucca as I still have the original glass in the front!!
