Ok I'm starting this thread so we can collect a nice album full of type 3's from around the world. More than anything, this can serve as inspiration to anyone building up a type 3 (like me!). This isn't a 'readers rides' type thing, but rather just the best from around the world.......I'll get it started........

ren I think you needed to mention something about genres. As in resto-cal, nuts-low and ratty. Don't know if this ended up the way you wanted. Ah well, saturate it with your own select pics.

nice ride, Kyle. Looks like a narrow beam? and some aussie badges on the wings too! Nice over rider rubber......😵💫
rhdragtop ·
Hi...Actually it has the stock Type 3 beam. I am running 4.5" Fuchs so it looks like it is narrowed. I have always loved that look. I am about the 4th owner. It originally came from Australia. I am having a blast driving it around...Take care...Kyle

I was reading not long ago in Australian Muscle Car Magazine that the Bryan Thompson V8 Fastback (# 17 above) from the 70's was being searched for and come the following issue of the mag Bryan himself wrote into the editer with the final shot of the once o so quick fasty as it now rests in a paddock in NSW
As you might imagine there was not much Type 3 about it apart from the shape as it was mainly McLaren M10 B running gear that eventually end up back in a McLaren in NZ

I would have left the background noise levels up but all you would hear is the sound of my girlfriends 67bug. It was cable tied to her back bumper for most of it and on the other shots it was wind noise.

You guys might be interested in what I have been working on for the past 4 months.
A local binl orry side swiped my fasty;
I thought it was time I added my old T3 Ute, before and after the fire. She was taken from me by a delinquent kid down the road, the night after I returned from 6 month in Iraq. The 2am wake up wasn't much fun, especial running out naked trying to put your car out. Little F%cker, I'm sure karma will sort him out , because the police couldn't.
It was a great ride running a T4 1.8 ltr, with a shit loads of torque, made for a very practical and reliable ride. Still pisses me off to even think about it 5 years later.

Another video of my type 3 if you are interesred?
This time from when it was used for a TV show up here in Scotland (its in gaelic so dont worry, i need the subtitles as well).
Hello Dave,
I'm always intrigued by this video, what type of spoiler is that mounted on the front. Modified Kamei Beetle Spoiler?...It looks very Kool, I would like one for my Fastback.
BTJustice ·
Its just a standard Kamei spoiler. I made a couple of brackets to hold it at the angle I thought looks best.
Dave,
I don't quite understand what you mean by "standard Kamei spoiler". Is it a spoiler made specifically for the Type 3's, or one that was made for the Beetle and you made brackets to make it fit your Type 3. Please tell me more.
Much Appreciated.
BTJustice ·
Sorry, its a beetle spoiler as far as I know that I picked up at a show.
I think Kamei made 2 versions, one for a torsion axle bug and one for 1302's and 1303's but I cant be sure which this one is.
The spoiler looks awesome on both vehicles.
Here's a photo of a Kamei spoiler, is this the style I should be looking for?
Thanks
vlad01 ·
That is uber cool

That looks the same as mine. I mounted the top edge to the bumper and used some plastic brackets between the bottom edge ans the bottom of the wings.
I made my brackets from plastic numberplates (uk style) so that if I hit a kerb or anything the bracket would break and save the spoiler from breaking.
Dave.

Looks like I'm in the hunt for a Kamei front spoiler.
Here's another Type 3 front spoiler looker !...Check this out !
Here's (hopefully a shot of my notch) had it for about 5 years.

Nice ride mate 🙂
I think I know where that shot is taken. It's in a great looking deco garage with a window tinting place attached yeah? I think I've noticed them selling a couple bugs in the past. Do they work on VW's often?
