fat chicks need to get it hard keep up the good work:thumb

greedy53 ·

a few more pics moving along

bajachris88 ·

hehe, shes a bloke? lol

NICE WORK MATE! U gonna be doing wheely stands in this thing? 😂

Euro_67 ·

You might want to think about the effect the mods to the fan shroud will have on cooling. Number 3 cylinder is prone to running hotter due to the oil cooler location. Add some boost and temps will rise again.

greedy53 ·

i have run the fan with a drill and measured the air via a wind vane and i get better flow than the org i have made some alterations inside the shroud and the oil cooler is remote so there is very little interferance this project has been on the bench for quite a wile

pod ·

I must bring that carby over to you:o

greedy53 ·

one day as i need it sounds selfish but i can't drag it all to u to see and i'm holding your esky hostige

[ Edited on 21-8-2006 by greedy53 ]

HRD 68B ·

nice work ill have to drop down and have a look one day soon, i just started taking apart that rusty rat i brought off u.
cheers brenton

kroozzn63 ·

hmm steve may i suggest a less angular intake manifold ,
some sharp angles that pressured air will be passing though.
A valiant effort though, im looking foward to see how she goes in the long term ,

greedy53 ·

thanks all the angles are really dictated by thr amount of room available i have used all the avaible space by using the hargest tubes i can and brenton i found the keys for the rat drop by when ya can

HotRodMatt ·

You should post this project over at the HAMB.
Those guys would be real interested in this...

greedy53 ·

yep your right i will soon

greedy53 ·

had to toss the helper out kept getting in the way and laying down on the job so i hired a new bloke he needs a few cloths and medical attention for the large rash and swelling

HRD 68B ·

yeah greedy ill drop by soon , maybe even the sarvo lol
cheers brenton

pete wood ·

any more progress?

greedy53 ·

up to fitting a carby just deciding on whitch one may go with a duel through progressive webber

i have fitted the external oil cooler and made the support brackets after the carby it's just deciding on the pulley size

pete wood ·

pulley size = tiny!!! 👍

🤘 more boost, more boost!!!

greedy53 ·

that pully is only there to line up the rest of the pulley gang the one going on is 3.0 inch this is just bthe trial and fit time all the parts are there and the final fit gegins very soon

[ Edited on 16-9-2006 by greedy53 ]

pete wood ·

mmm, naastee 😏

You need some trumpets on top of that carbie dude. 😁

pete wood ·

so does it run?

bajaben ·

hey, nice work dude. is that an old toyota supercharger? if it is, did you have to modify it to run suck thru? i was looking at doing something similar but need cash for the gearbox first haha. good luck with it

greedy53 ·

yep it runs and yes it is toyota and no problems with petrol being blown through i gave toyoat a call and they assured me that there would be no worries and i have done this before with my kombi and run it maney miles

bajaben ·

does it have any problem with running rich at idle or anything? and how do you have to jet the carby? how much boost can you safely run?

greedy53 ·

at idle there is no prob and at full song you need bigger jets i'm using a webber twin through with bigger main jets in the second through and i can run 6lb with no worries when you remember that 6 bl is only at full revs 4000 normaly 1-3 lb while running around normaly

pete wood ·

So what's it like compared to stocker?

Which model of toyota is it off? I might build a similar setup for a khanacross car. Instant torque is a highly valued thing.

BTW, I think you need a mercedes kompressor badge for it now😁

bajaben ·

so with a bigger carby there is a possibility to run higher boost? like would it be possible to run about 7 max so you use about 3-5 normally, on an engine that should rev to about 7000

greedy53 ·

fuel is not the problem is air a bigger through is needed i had a 40 delorto that would run 10 lb with the small blower pully bit that was to much for long term use so i ran 6 lb at 4000 revs whitch let it run 1-2 lb at idle and this gave me enormous amount nof torque whitch is what i was wanting

bajaben ·

is this attached to a stock motor? are the gains over stock really noticable? i am thinking of attaching one to the 1916cc im about to build, would the charger be able to flow enough? and i thought the toyota chargers could run up to 12psi or where you refering to the point that at 10psi it was almost too undrivable for long term use?

greedy53 ·

yep a stock motor it's a 1600 and with the blower it's a 2.5 with torque they will run to 10 lb BUT you are talking a toyota whitch normally runs 600 with no probs
now a vw is a ifferant beast low reving
and for running the 14 toyota is for a 2 lit high veving donk so as for feeding a 1916 no worries if ya use the right cARBY

bajaben ·

cheers dude. ill think seriously about giving it a go. sounds like its a good idea as far as not having to modify the exhaust for turbo etc goes. thanks for the help. hope the rod keeps you smiling

Euro_67 ·

Which club do I need to join to get historical or club rego on a modified beetle ?

greedy53 ·

any club offering but there are conditions about the amount of time your in the club

Euro_67 ·

what are the rules regarding mods ?

greedy53 ·

been down this ropad not going again

bajaben ·

hey dude, can you post new pics of the car am eagerly awaiting pics of it driving 🙂 and what would your thoughts be of mounting a 90 degree bend on the top of the charger so you can use a side carby, just in term of fitting under the decklid, do you think it would be possible with regards the the space it would take?

greedy53 ·

these blowers are naturally on there side in toyotas the last one i did was mounted with a side draft delorto toyota say they can be mounted either way you could also use a blowthrough system and that would make it very fittable

kroozzn63 ·

so is it gunna get a run on the dyno ? looking artisically cool steve

greedy53 ·

nearly done just doing the dizzy now to keep the advance belowb 20 % than a belt and away we go

dre vg ·

Question regarding the SC, is there any problems twisting it like that? i mean in terms of the oil etc, because on the tyota it is mounted with the narrower side on the top/bottom,
and another question with the blow off valve, im assuming thats the silver thing mounted on the side or the pipe work, it looks like a recirculating type, where does that vent to? thanks

greedy53 ·

no worries turning the blower on it's side there is a extra position for the oil dipstick and toyota say it's ok and as for a blowof valve it's really not a blowof as the blower does not make excess pressure but it will backfire and destroy your rotors so a relief valve is needed hense the wrx and it vents to the air but it does have a vacume release if i want to attach to the carby so i can berp when changing gears hope that helps nade i'm waiting for the dissy bits than up up and away

dre vg ·

if it does vent wont that mean that fuel vapours will be released into the engine bay? where abouts is the extra position?? Thanks

greedy53 ·

yep into the engine bay but remember it's a small amount bof vapor than the spring closes it
my old 71 bus with the same blower had ba rubber pipe that blew out and hadb to be replaced when it blew but it saved the rotors although it was a bit annoying so i fitted a blowoff similar to this one it takes a matter of tenths of a secondb to vent and rerset it's not a fuel rail dragster

OwenMM ·

cant wait to see some dyno figures.
Is this a period accessory?

greedy53 ·

copy of

Bizarre ·

Stoopid question - but how does it cool with 1/2 the shroud cut away???

OwenMM ·

yeah, and how do you pull the distributor cap off? looks like tight squeeze in the pics?

greedy53 ·

the yanks have been using half shrouds for years on there rails it's not that hard with the oil cooler removed and placed elsewere with a fan than all the shit removed from inside it gives a better air flow to 3&4 cylinders so it actually cools better
and the dissy in the picture is not the one being used i'm using a dissy of a 61-67 bug whitch are 1.5 inches shorter
no big mysterss just homne work and asking the right people

dre vg ·

another question where did yu get the vee belt pully from, my sc12 has the 5 rib pully, i was looking at having a cusom crank pully made up that is basically a 5 rib pully joined to the vee pully.

greedy53 ·

when you pull the blower pulley apart there is the clutch flange with the spline that drives the blower shaft i used that with an orrdinary v pulley that slid over the long shaft and locked on with a grub screw this way it takes 5 minutes to change the pulley size thus the blower bust i will put up some picks

dre vg ·

pics would be unreal, next question 😊 where did you get the vee pulley from, thanks heaps for your help.

greedy53 ·

the pulley was from a trash and tresure i just kept my beady little eyes open but ya could get em from an engerning supplier

and these are the dissys thqat i had to pick from
you may have noticed that one pulley was made from a genny pulley set

[ Edited on 9-10-2006 by greedy53 ]

dre vg ·

are you still running the magnetic clutch on the pulley? I want to maintain the clutch so that the sc can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch, the problem is with hat i dont think tha i can change the pulley. I am yet to pull the pulley off to confirm this however. Another problem with that is that i will need to run and air byoass valve, si that air can still flow when the sc is off, i think i am just over complicating things.

greedy53 ·

with the blower of they still run i droped a belt and went 2 hours before i got a hold of another and as for running with a switch you won't turn it off as the fuel will still be running through the bigger jets so if ya kep the electronic clutch ok but if ya don;t no worries i had mine on the last one and never switched it off was not needed saved nothing by doing it and lost torque when you needed it

dre vg ·

thats what i like to hear

greedy53 ·

only the rotor button stopping from a start

greedy53 ·

WEL TO ALL WHO HAVE BEEN WATCHING TODAY IT FIRED UP AND IDELED REVES UP GOOD AND HAS PLENTY OF GRUNT CAN'T WAIT TO GO FOR A SHAKE DOWN RUN
I WILL TAKE A VIDEO TOMORROW AND UPLOAD UNTILL THAN
IT'S ALIVE

pyr0 ·

sweet cant wait too see the video

pod ·

cant wait to go for a ride :thumb

greedy53 ·

IT SOUNDS BLOODY AWSOME AND THATS ON ONE SIDE OF THE CARBY WITH THE 2 OPEN I THINK I'L GET POD TO PILOT IT

MickH ·

EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Drive it like it's stolen:party:bounce

greedy53 ·

it's the only way i know how

handycam ·

look foward to it 2 :thumb

greedy53 ·

at last the video is up my bloody adsl is so slow it would be quicker to push the video down the cable with a stick
the engine is full of oil and nthe petrol is 2 stroke so i have no dry bits to grind into shit click on pic to start

I bloody hope so,cause i wanna go for a spin:thumb

greedy53 ·

i think that they made those high speed bumps just to annoy us poor bug steerers

HotRodMatt ·

Will you be swapping plates outside the event like at the Nationals?

greedy53 ·

to keep the wingers happy i wish that some gutless bastard would go to the rta and get it altered than tell all how good they are instead of running around bitching to all that will listern and they are usually the ones who do bloddy nothing but TALK about how they would do it if they could get off there bloody arses and have a go
now put up or shut up

HotRodMatt ·

So which story is it?
Is it registered as a replica 37 Ford?
Or an historical Beetle?

If Historical Beetle then how? A convert requires an eng cert - anything requiring an eng cert can't be H registered. We all know the RTA doesn't see the actual car to get H rego it is administered, in trust, by the clubs.

If replica 36/37 Ford... which ASRF Associated club are you in and why does it not sport SR plates? And the "kit" that you spoke of earlier as being replicated, the original isn't 30 years old either.

[ Edited on 23-10-2006 by HotRodMatt ]

greedy53 ·

a replica now go and ask the rat they spent 3 days of my time proving it so vw owners could get some kind of acknolsgement like hot rodders do for having NEWW 34-37 ford rods built from new parts
i know how to do it but i would die before i told any vw people how or what the rta want
you all know the numbers so take it up with the RTA if you win good on ya if ya don't put it up here

The RTA do not look at H plated cars. It is solely a club responsibility.

People with Repro pre-49 cars are eligible for SR registration only if they are members of the ASRF or an affiliated club with SR rego.

To get this rego you have to have to have inspections done during every stage of the build and comply with regulations that are published by DOTARS (Federal) and the RTA (NSW).

For many pre49s it is actually easier to go through the engineers and get full rego as Modified Production.

You CAN NOT run a modified pre49 or reproduction pre49 car on H plates.

H registration is limited to contemporary modifications (and certain safety modifications like juice brakes instead of cable) and cannot include extensive body modification like hacking off roof etc. Even a replica Hebmuller cannot get either H or SR plates in NSW.

you can still go to them and bitch about it and for me this is the end of this fruitless debate again

westi ·

hey guy's
nice to see matt hasn't changed.
leave the old man alone.
stop giving engineer's advice until you get yourself quailified

pod ·

nice one westi, thats one slammed 61 in your avatar

greedy53 ·

thanks

westi ·

no prob's whity
thanks pod,it will be alot more fun with the new motor that's going in,it just won't turn real good.who cares when it looks cool.

westi ·

just a quick one about pully sizes ,you can get just about any size you want from cbc bearings.

look's like your welding has improved since the last one' whity.i guess you got lots of practice on fatso.

greedy53 ·

YEP I USED MY GLASSES THIS TIME AND NOT TOUCH WELDING

pod ·

went for a spin at the shootout ,man what a buzz ,youve convinced me now steve😵😁

silver ·

what year model did this car start out as?

greedy53 ·

1971 super with ferson front i know how it's spelt
