I thought I would show a photo of my Pobjoy T4 counterweighted crank for my next project !!
The motor will be around 2.2lt with a short stroke and big bore combo.:P

Short stroke and Big Bore is the best :thumb

Not a bad price, i got a 78.4mm counterweighted with type 1 rod journals for $900.00 from the states might look into sending some of my type 4 cranks down to Stan to get the mods done for future engine builds.

talk to phil matthews about the piston slap noises coming from his engine. I believe he also has 93's
Craig Paton ·
I reckon it could be going into a Splitty and towing his hillclimb car......................?? :o
Comments.... Craig

My mistake, I thought the comment was in reference to a type 4 crank👍

My mistake, I meant to type 103's. :thumb

The size alone won't cause piston slap, what stroke crank is he running?
VWCOOL ·
Big, forged pots will always be somewhat noisy... Just ask Victor and Ben Bray

I dunno. I assume nothing exotic. Probably only the stock 1800 or 2 litre.
Craig Torrens ·
I'll just turn the radio up 😉.................although I doubt I will have any problems!
Euro_67 ·
But arent 1916s all you need ?
Craig Torrens ·
You are not allowed to run a 1916cc in the over 2lt class in motor sport.
Craig Torrens ·
haven't done much on this project....................but here's the P&B's
Nice thick side walls on these puppies !
VWCOOL ·
Is that a 10c peice?
xornge666x ·
looks like a 20c to me, but its been a while since ive seen either!
is this really necessary?!?!

You need some new pistons, those ones have big holes in the top. I suspect there was a bit of valve float in the old engine. You shouldnt use stock springs over 6750rpm.

😂
I am going to try a 66x103 also, but will put a turbo to it as well 😎
The 66mm cranks are extemely strong by itself; I won't have counterweights welded to it myself, but will use lightenend rods with 22mm pin and light pistons too ;-)

get a cut off wheel on your angle grinder and cut some grooves around the main bearing journals. You'll get better lubrication above 6 psi.

I was a little confused at the begining of this post, as I thought a T4 crank was from a five cylinder water cooled engine but I understand now.
