kombi solex carb problem

Something is not right with my 32-34 pdsit carburettors on the 76 camper. Got flat spots and only seems to run well at wide open throttle. I think I may have found the cause, or at least something contributing to the prob.

Pictured below is some sort of valve that seems to supply the accelerator pump with fuel. One of them (left carb) will flow compressed air from the nozzle to the 2 little holes further up. The other one (right carb) seems blocked. Inside them is a spring and what could be a plunger - not sure. They are spotlessly clean inside but one appears seized. The result I think is no fuel getting to the accelerator pump.
Can someone please correct me if any of this is not accurate, and also advise on what to do.
I'm thinking that one of these parts needs replacing but which is good and which is stuffed?
Furthermore, where would I get a good 2nd hand one close to home?

also check if all welsch plugs are in

if not would run very rough at low throttle

1c or 2c piece will fit

Well I did this. So far no response from them since yesterday morning.

Both accelerator pump jets were pumping a similar amount of fuel so I reinstalled the carbs and fired it up anyway.

Set idle and mixture by ear. I really need one of those whizbang carby balancer tools. Some people call them a "snail" due to the shape. Anyone got one that I could borrow for a day or 2?

Toby,
Micks are real busy but do get to u asap.I resend e-mails if urgent. Ask for Rohan on the phone.

to balance carbies u may be able to do it my way if ur hearing is good on bth ears

I actually have an erly tube headset from an airline trip.
any equal length and inside damater tubing can do

set them up to take in the suction sound of each carb
and adjust ...some brands of carbs are easier..

however your seized probl should be attended to first. Soak bth items well in say thinners or fine oil ie automatic fluid so bth parts will function equally.
good luck.
there are carb specialists in most larger cities also to contact

I'm not sure if your jets are blocked but it is worth noting that on TIV motors the carbs and their duty is not equal; there are differences between the left and right carb. The setup has been described as 1 & 1/2 carbs, so check your manual before trying to make both perform the same duty.

they are called thermostatic valves they work by limiting the fuel that gets to the accelerator pump when the fuel heats up to about 20-24 degrees centigrade below that temp they allow more fuel to get through to the squirters, the way to adjust the carbs is to get the accelerator pumps to squirt between 1.3 and 1.7 mm of fuel per full sweep of the throttle the thermostatic valves will cut this amount down when everything warms up. if you place a carby over a collection vesel fill the float chamber then operate the throttle 10 times and measure the amount you should get between 13 to 17mm you can then adjust the accelerator pump arm by turning in or out the screw on the end of the arm sounds like you need more for your problem. i think the only way to get one is to buy a second hand carby, I may have a spare one lying around. i will be away until sunday i will have a look around my spares and u2u you if i have one.
