Sitting in traffic for more than half an hour yesterday on the way to work in an area that is not normally conjested .
My thoughts are ' those bloody roadworkers are doing repairs at peak-hour '
To my surprise , as I approached a roundabout , I see what the fuss is all about . I reach quickly into my bag and grab the camera to take these couple of pics .
He must have been cornering fast as he was doing a U-turn at the roundabout .

so that's what the bottom of a truck looks like

well now i know

kombi_kid ·

looks pretty familiar specially at the roundabout at the start of coffs harbour heading north!! all too often double B trucks flying around the roundabout and just tip over!!

Is that the roundabout near the end of Albion Park airport Wayne?

buzzbug ·

I drove past that about 10min after it happened.
I was on my way up to sydney airport.

That reminds me of the time that I saw a truck roll over in Melbourne back in 1968

I can't remember the name of the street where it happened but it is on the southern side of the Yarra River, near where a small hump backed bridge goes across to Richmond.

I was in a group of cars going towards the city when a loaded concrete truck came over the bridge from Richmond and turned left to go towards Toorak.

Two cars ahead of me was a Vauxhall Victor. The truck fell over onto it and crushed it to the ground. The driver of the Vauxhall survived for whole series of reasons.

1. He saw what was about to happen.
2. He was not wearing a set belt.
3. He had slippery vinyl covered bench seats.
4. He did not have a passenger.
5. The passenger's door was not locked.

As the truck towered over the Vauxhall the driver slid across the seat, opened the door, threw himself across the top of the car beside him, tumbled to the footpath and put his back to the wall of the house there and watched in horror as his car was crushed before his eyes.

He then want into serious shock and needed an ambulance.

If any of the above things had not been true he may not have had time time escape.

It was pure dumb luck. I have never before or since seen such a lucky escape.

That is an amazing story , and I hope that guy went and purchased a lottery ticket .
However , if you had just escaped death like this guy did , how much more luck could you wish for .
thanks for sharing this with us , as it gives us inspiration to know just how much we can fight to survive.
